Chapter 28:
~Crystal~
Watching Erik pace was rather entertaining. He was upset about whatever. I on the other hand could not be more please; we had hit the target with a greater blow than I thought we would. Miami would take a long time to repair and forever will be known as the first attack against the humans. The idiotic X-men could not stop us now. Fear was set in place. Fear. The thing that was stronger than trust.
“I really don’t understand why you are upset,” I finally said.
“It wasn’t big enough,” he replied in his voice. “Too little damage on the city, too much damage on the humans.”
“What do you mean? You think we killed too many people?”
“No, but we want them to see our power,” he replied with force in his voice. “We want them to fear us. The number dead is just a number, but the damage done is physical. Something they can see.”
“Oh, I see,” I lied. Honestly I really don’t care about the buildings. As long as the humans die, I’m good. What was I ever thinking joining Professor Xavier? It was clear this was where I belonged. The stupid X-men could never stand against us. “So do you think Breeze will recover?”
Erik stopped pacing and looked at me. “Do I think she will recover? Yes. She is a mutant and a very powerful one. She has power beyond what you can imagine. Her and Helena could stop anything they wanted. For now, she is messed up. If she can ever manage to remember how do use her powers, it will be hard. Breeze knew nothing about what she could do and Julia knew just the surface. If she remembers herself, then we can worry, but for now let’s just let the X-men scramble at the latest event and try to prepare for something that they will never see coming.”
I smiled to myself. “Yes, it will come as a shock, won’t it Dylan?”
Dylan had been standing quietly with his back against the wall. His arms were crossed across his chest. Normal, quiet Dylan. “Yes, it will,” was all he said.
“We are lucky Professor X has not discovered his traitor,” I replied, walking over to him and pressing my lips to his.
He kissed me eagerly for a few seconds, before relaxing away. “Yes, well he has a lot on his mind, with Breeze and Helena on top of everything else going on. Plus with the help of Emma’s mind blocks she has perfected I doubt he has any suspicions, and if he does, no one will ever buy it.”
I gave him a smile, laying my head on his chest. “That’s right. So how are little Sean and his girlfriend that doesn’t know him?”
Dylan shrugged. “She doesn’t know him and he follows her around like a puppy dog. It’s a sight. They are friends, I believe, but as far as I can tell Helena is the only one she really knows. We are going to train some tomorrow, so I can get you more info next time I see you about her powers.”
“Speaking of time, it is probably best you leave,” Erik said. “We don’t need any wondering about where you are.”
Dylan nodded, standing up and shrugging me off to my disapproval. “I will see you around then. In two weeks?”
Erik nodded back. “Two weeks.”
