There's an emptiness in Zel's heart. After finally completing her goal of the past decade, she should feel triumphant and glorious, but instead she just felt solemn and depressed. After all — where was she to go now?
In truth, she was glad that Hisoka was there to sweep her away. Chidoku was a great person, but she knew that sooner or later he'd just chase after her like a lost puppy again. Such are the consequences of Stockholm Syndrome.
She bowed her head to Chidoku, and again mumbled an apology. Hisoka flashed his cards along with a deadly grin, and that was that. Chidoku sighed, and made himself scarce. Even though everyone knew that he would just be lurking in the shadows... watching Zel's every move.
In a way, it was sweet, but Zel wanted nothing to do with sweet at this moment.
She turned towards Hisoka and tilted her head, her violet eyes sparkling with the promise of adventure.
"So? Where are you going, Hisoka?"
His lips turned up in a diabolical smile. "I'm chasing after a certain... very promising fruit...You'll see what I mean. Fufu~"
"Ah... OK, how about I'll just meet you at the airport then... I need to make a stop before leaving this town."
Hisoka looked at her strangely.
"Aren't you supposed to follow me?"
She sighed, and started walking with a brisk pace towards the city.
"Fine then, come along."
Hisoka's smile turned vicious, but he followed nonetheless.
At the edge of the city-forest intersection, Kimaru met the two of them with an impatient stomp of his small paws.
"What took you two so long? Never mind, I don't want to know."
He climbed to his usual perch on Zel's head, and Zel lifted her blood-red hood so that it covered the majority of her face.
Hisoka watched her attempts at subterfuge in amusement.
"Why bother hiding yourself? If someone gets in your way, can't you just ... kill them?"
There was something so casual and nonchalant about the way that Hisoka suggested that that Zel almost wanted to agree. Until the sentence replayed in her head and she realized how awful and horrid it was. She glared at him.
"I could kill you."
"Oh~? Come on then~" Hisoka winked.
Zel shook her head helplessly, and continued on her way. There was no reasoning with the devil.

They stopped a few blocks away from the Arena. From here, it seemed not as menacing or as frightening. Zel suddenly understood why so many people worshiped the Company and their tower. It was almost ironic, the hope and faith they put into the tower.
Anyone with half a mind would've put two-and-two together. Just from the stats alone, it was obvious, wasn't it? Only one person could stand on the top. Everyone else would only serve as stepping stones for the ultimate "winner".
Ironically, that was the only reason why Zel wanted to enter the tower. Not for the money, nor the fame and glory. But to win...
She shook her head, feeling suddenly very sentimental. All the fighting, the chaos and bloodshed... It was another life, one that she was leaving behind. She frowned suddenly, looking back at Hisoka. With him around, would that life truly be behind her?
Hisoka noticed her stare and gave her a wave. Only it wasn't a wave — he threw playing cards at her, aiming at all seven of her vital spots.
She glared at them as she burned them all with Ichor.
