Christmas in the City

sorry this is two days late. was busy on Christmas. I was going to do it as soon as I got home but I fell asleep, but here it is. This is based on the lifetime movie "Christmas in the City" enjoy and Merry Christmas

December 23rd 2016

It was a chilly day here in Midway, Pennsylvania, where Spencer Hastings-Anderson raised her little five year old girl Ruth-Ann along with her mother and father. All her life, she's been working at her Grandfaher's candystore, "Hastings Candy". Spencer would spend all day working at the shop to raise money to take care of Ruth-Ann. I bet you're wondering, where is Ruth-Anns dad, Spencer's husband?? Well her husband Keith Anderson was in the military and died in a war in Iraq. Spencer and Keith were highschool lovers. They've been dating since the 9th grade. He was an excellent father to Ruth-Ann. He loved her so much when she came out the womb, he wouldn't let Spencer hold her. He was so attached to her. Of course he loved Spencer as well. He did pull a Topanga and proposed at their graduation and married during the summer. College was a bit struggling, but they managed to survive and after they graduated from College, they moved into their first home and had a baby. A few years after Keith had to go into war. He hugged Spencer so tight and kissed her like his life depended on it(little did they know it kinda did) and hugged and kiss his Ruthy. For the first two years it was fine, he would video chat, even write them letters. A year later it was different. He wasn't responding, answering video calls or writing letters back. 5 days later there was a knock on the door and there stood the Sargent, he broke the news saying that Keith died at war. That news broke Spencer dearly. She cried for months and still does today. Ruthann didn;t understand what was going on. She was only three at the time, and since then Spencer has been struggling yo make money, so she works at Hastings-Candy

Spencer's POV

I'm so glad the Holidays are here, but at the same time i'm not. Another year without Keith. RuthAnn looks like Keith so much. You would think someone copied and past Keiths face onto hers. Right now Im dropping off Ruthann at the bus stop

"Okay are you ready for your last day for Holiday break?" I asked my baby

"Yes, I am. Can we go ice skating after you're done with work" She asked. Ruthy is such an amazing skater. My dad started teaching her after Keith died. He always wanted to but now he can never, but my dad is which is great

"Yes, of course you can my little angel" I smiled. The bus comes right in front and the doors open

"Hi Mr. Johnson, Merry Christmas" Ruthy smiled

"Merry Christmas to you too as well" he says back

"My mommy just got her hair done, doesn't she look pretty" Ruthy exclaimed. She does this everytime. She's trying to get me to date again, and frankly I don't think I'm ready

"Oh okay Ruthy, that's enough" I blushed.

"yes she looks very pretty" Mr. Johnson agreed.

"OKay mommy will see you later on tonight, okay?" I told RuthAnn

"Okay mommy" she says back. she goes in the bus and takes off. I walk back and head to the candy store. When I got there, it wasn't crowded. almost empty. There was like only 5 people there, not including me and my mother. I went behind the counter and put on my apron and got behind the counter, sorting out the cookies, cupcakes, hot chocolate has her mom was on the phone

"Yes, Yes Im really happy for you" Mrs. Hastings said to the person. As she was talking I noticed a letter with big red printing saying Eviction. I gulped, she opened the letter

Dear Hastings Family,

      Due to the low money you're making, we are going to have to shut down your place, unless you have another way to keep this job open. We need at least $800 to keep this place. you have until New Years. Thank You. Spencer eyes were watery. They're going to shut down her family's store. 

"Spencer dear, Hanna just landed a major spot for her job" her mom announced

"Im so happy, tell her I'll call her later" Spencer smiled. Her mom hung up the phone and noticed Spencer's weird face

"Sweetie what's wrong" she asked. Spencer showed her mom the eviction notice

'Oh I knew this was coming" her mom said in disbelief

"What are we going to do?" Spencer asked

"Just try to make more money. Hanna told me the part time job she's working at is hiring for the holidays, maybe you can work there" her mom suggested

"That's all the way in Rosewood" I sighed "And what about Christmas and Ruthy" I asked

"Well spend it with your best friend and take Ruthy. You're father and I will do everything we can to keep this open" she said

"I guess you're right, I'll call Hanna after working" I smiled

"So how's the love life going" my mom ask. 

" I dunno I havent dated since Keith died" I shrugged

"Honey, it's been 3 years, it's time to move on" My mom exclaimed

"well once we save this store, I'll date again okay"

After a few hours of working I picked up Ruthy and headed down to the ice skating rink for about an hour and headed back home.

'Okay Ruthy finish you food and get ready for bed" I said as I dialed Hanna's number

"Okay mommy" she shouts. I go to the window seat and wait for Hanna to pick up

"Hanna Marin" she greets

"Hey baby Hanna banana" I greeted back

"OMG Spence, hi how you been?" she smiles

"Not so great, the store is shutting down" I frown

"Oh that's too bad. Hey my job is always hiring, and they could use the help during this time, are you intrested. You get a holiday bonus" she says

"Okay, I'll do it" Spencer laughs

"yeeaah I can't believe you're going to spend Christmas in the city with me" she exclaims

'Well I gotta go and put Ruthann to bed. I'll see you tomorrow Han" I hung up and went to Ruthys room

"So instead of spending Christmas here we're going to spend it in Rosewood with your God Mother Hanna, mommy has a job to make more money for the store okay" I told her

"Okay mommy". I got up and picked up her snowglobe and shook it

"Say goodnite Santa" I said

"Good nite Santa" she says in her cute voice. I placed the snowglobe on the dresser and turned off the lights

'Say goodnite Ruthy"

"GoodNite Ruthy" she laughs. I closed the door and head to bed myself
