The not so well Dinner Date

promp: this is from 7x18. Im guessing Toby does take Spencer on that date like he wanted to in 6x11.

Spencer's POV

"Well fly back home safe, and thank you for everything you've done to protect me, my friends, you are an amazing person" I smiled as Marco gets ready to leave Rosewood for good.

"The pleasure is all mine, I'm only a phone call away, so if anything please call me" he smiled. He takes a step closer and wraps me in his arms hugging me tight and kisses the top of my head

"I will, I'll miss you" I begin to tear. I wiped my tears before letting him go. I opened the door for and as he stepped into the cab.

"See you around Hastings" Marco smiled

I gave him a small smile "See you around" I said. He sits back and tell the driver to go. I watched him leave. I really liked Marco. I actually thought there could be something with us. He's going back to California since he's done with the investigation. With him, i don't know, it almost felt somewhat perfect. I felt like I knew him for the longest. I turned on my heel and began to walk home until I got a message. I reached into my pocket and took my phone out. It was from Toby

From Toby:

Hey I know it's kinda late but I remembered I promised you dinner when you came to the construction sight. If you're still up to it, meet me at the Radley at 9

I stared at the text. When did he get back. Last time I saw him, he had to plan Yvonne's funeral with her family. I was hesitant so I ignored it and began walking again

"Don't get involved with Toby, you are trying to move on, no you are going to move on" I said to myself. Before I can cross the street I get another text alert from Toby

From Toby:

can you please come, I really want to see you, I need to see you, I'll pay for the food"  

Okay I'm gonna go, but only because he's paying and I'm kinda struggling on survival now. I walked to the Radley. It wasn't that many people here. There's two couples eating, over by the elevator a man sitting and reading the newspaper, a few waitresses around and about. I scanned the room for Toby and I spotted him. As I walked I noticed he looked much different. His clothes was all shabby, he has a full grown bear and his hair is messed up. He has his head down reading the newspaper

"ahem" I cleared my throat to catch his attention. He looked up and smiled at me

"You came" He smiled. I took my coat off and sat down

"Yeah honestly just for the food" I smirked. I sat back and just stared at each other. It's an awkward silence.

"When did you get back?" I crossed my arms and broke the silence

"about a week ago" he says

"Why did you text me Toby?" I asked

"I just wanted to catch up" he says

I leaned over and put my arms on the table and squinted both my eyes

"Why did you text me Toby" I said. He sighed and looked at me

" I wanna talk" he says

"Toby honestly there's nothing to talk about, I don't know what you want me to say." I ran my fingers through my hair. I looked up at Toby

"Look I'm sorry about Yvonne alright, I knew she meant a lot to you" I said trying not to feel uncomfortable.

"That's not why I text you, not to talk about Yvonne, it was to talk about us" Toby said

"There isnt an us anymore, you don't get to weigh into my life anymore" I mock him

"I didn't mean to say that" he apologized

"Yeah you did cause you never apologized" I spat

"I was angry at-'

"You're still angry about the whole 'I'm not ready to start a life with you' crap Toby. LET IT GO" 

"You didnt love me" he shouted

"What- he- did you- I what. What the heck are you talking about Cavanaugh, of course I loved you. just because I wasn't ready to start a life with you, it didnt mean I wasn't ready at all. Bear with me I was in College. It's bad enough I was stressed out. I said "I'm not ready, at least not now' I wanted to start a life with you, after college cause I'll be worried free about exams and classwork you buffoon" I shouted. I grabbed my coat and headed towards the exit with Toby on my tail.

"We aren't done yet" he yelled as we walk out the Radley.

"What" I shouted and I stopped walking

"I love you" he said

"You what??" I asked.

"I love you, I can't live my life without you Spencer I-

"stop, dont you ever dare use that phrase on me when you used it on Yvonne, and you seemed to be fine as we were apart" I shouted in his face. I continued to walk to the Barn and again with Toby on my tail. What is he a lost puppy? I opened the door and took off my coat

" I know you love me too, you still love me" he said a bit calmly 

I ignored him and went to get a beer and sat on the couch

"Please say something Spencer" he sat next to me.

I opened the cap with my teeth and looked at him

"it's the same anymore, it's not the same love. You're only doing this because Yvonne died and you're hurting and you need someone to comfort you.. You're not coming from love, you're coming from depression and desperation" I said with tears coming down my face

"That's not true Spencer. When I heard you were shot by A.D I realized that it wasn't Yvonne I can't live my life without her, it's you." he sadly laughs "I was horrified, scared, that's what caused the crash. The after a week you came out the hospital and I came to see you (7x13) and saw you with Marco that's when I knew I probably never have a chance with you, which is the main reason why I left for a bit. Not because of Yvonne's funeral, but seeing you in the arms of another man broke my hear, now that neither of them is here, I wanna try again. I'm extremely sorry for thinking you didn't want to start a life with me, being so rude to you when you came back, telling you I made the house for you then talked about Yvonne" he said. He wipes the tears from my eyes

"Do you love me" he asks. I nodded my head. He grabs my face and smashes his lips onto mine.

"I love you" I said in between kisses

"I love you too" he says back
