Hayley's POV
"Mom I'm not going too far! I promise I'll be back soon!" I said while I was turning the door knob.
"Just be careful out there! With the power out everywhere for the past few hours it's awfully dark out. Even the governor said not to be out till the storm has passed!"
I sighed and looked outside. "I'm just going to get some wood for the fire place. Here I'll bring this flashlight instead of using my phone's light." I went behind the TV and grabbed a small red flashlight.
My mother looked at me and the flashlight. She looked outside the nearby window and nodded. "I guess it's fine for now since the storm died down a little. Don't be out too long. If you here a thunderbolt I want you to come strait back!"
"Of course." I walked out the door.
This winter hasn't been cold at all. Maybe a few times in the mornings but so far this fall and winter have been pretty warm. It's weird. I walk out into the woods and grab any spare branches off the ground.
To be honest I didn't think I would need the flashlight but with it being so dark I turned it on.
The woods around me felt different. I don't know what but I felt very panicked. The wind moved the leaves and I listened. It sounded different as well. I started going back home when I saw a red rose.
"Huh? What's a red rose doing here? It's warm but not that warm..." I quietly said to myself. I dropped the branches I had in my arms and kneeled beside the single rose on the bush.
I suddenly saw something out of the corner of my eye glowing. A brownish light came from underneath the ground. I walked over to it and carefully dug out what was underneath.
As soon as I could see it clearly it stopped glowing. I was a brown crystal that looked like it was burned on the edges. I grabbed it out of the ground and placed it in the pocket of my hoodie.
I went back to see the rose but couldn't find it. I found the pile of branches again but there was no rose in sight.
"I guess I must have been seeing things."
'Help her. She's behind the bush.'
'She's hurt!'
I heard silent whispers. It freaked me out. I started walking away from the place and towards my house quickly.
I was a few yards away but then I saw something.
I was in a different forest. And it was daylight. A woman in a dress made of plants was in front of me. She had bright green eyes and smoky black hair that became a dark brown at the tips. Her skin tone looked golden brown. At first I was confused and scared but her warm smile calmed me.
"Who are you..?" I asked her.
"My name is Anne. But one very young girl used to call me Anny." She said with a melodic voice.
"Ok...why am I here? It was just dark." I questioned.
"You found that crystal and you ignored the voices telling you to help her. So I guess I should tell you now. You are going to be a savior some day. You may not get your wings for a while, but you have to take it slowly and learn from her."
"Who is 'her'?"
"The other fairy that was battling the evil one. She's unconscious behind the bush where the rose was. I suggest you go there and wake her up. But use this." She walked over to me gracefully and placed a small bottle in my hand. It had a turquoise colored liquid inside.
"Poor it over her scars and she should wake up. Don't let her see you though."
I nodded and closed my eyes. When I opened them I was back in the dark woods. I found the bush and looked behind it. I now truly believed in fairies because there was a girl here with blue wings and pink hair. No doubt about it anymore they are real.
I placed the flashlight at an angle so I can see everything. She was breathing. But her hand was on her chest. I moved the hand to see a huge scar. It looked like a tree. But it must have been a lightning bolt.
I poured the liquid out and quickly hid behind a large tree. To see if she would wake up. A few moments later she did. She looked to the sky and sighed. After she got up she slowly floated and finally flew to high grounds towards the train tracks nearby.
I walked into my house and my mom yelled at me for being out longer than intended. It honestly only felt like a few minutes but it was an hour.
I wonder what this crystal has to do with all this....
