The day quickly arrived, and I was so nervous!
Because I had to go earlier to school to get the bus to Sectionals, my dad had paid Beau to bring me earlier, so it was only me him and I in the car.
'You look good', Beau said, when I came out of my house, dressed in my costume, on that early morning.
'Uh, thank you', I replied, feeling myself blush while getting into the passenger seat.
'My offer still stands if you want me to replace Finn', Beau smirked, when he started driving.
'It's okay', I replied, uncertainly, 'Jacob Israel said that he would stand in for him.'
'The weirdo with the afro and the glasses?', Beau laughed.
'Yeah', I mumbled, 'He has a thing for Rachel and would do anything for her.'
' Mmm, she isn't my type to be honest', Beau replied, as he continued to drive.
'That's hard to believe', I mumbled.
'Really?', Beau laughed, 'How come?'
'Because I see the amount of Cheerios that come out of your house at various times of the day', I replied, rolling my eyes, 'I doubt they come to play Scrabble.'
'Why do you assume they're there for me?', Beau asked, 'They might be there for Luke or Jai.'
'Nah, it's you', I replied, as Beau drove into the school car park, 'You're the one that has no respect for women.'
'What?', Beau asked, suddenly angry.
'Beau if you respected women in any kind of way then you wouldn't treat them like dirt like you appear to', I replied, as he parked the car.
'Lauren you don't know anything about me', Beau almost snarled at me, 'I DO respect women.'
'Whatever', I said, as I got out of the car, 'Thanks for the ride. See you later.'
I didn't get a reply though because Beau immediately started the car again and drove off. I think he was even glaring at me.
What had I done, but only tell him the truth?
'I thought you would never get here!', Kurt complained, when I reached the bus, 'Come on slow poke!'
'Sorry!', I apologized, racing up the steps of the bus.
I looked around to see all the others, everyone except Finn.
'He's not here', Kurt said, as I sat down next to him.
'Yeah', I sighed, 'I can see that. Kurt we're doomed!'
'Probably', Kurt admitted.
When we reached the venue, Ms Pilsbury organized all of us.
We all quickly went into the audience part of the theatre, and our first competitors went on stage. They were from an all-girl club from the State Juvie.
Imagine our shock when we realized that they were singing 'Proud Mary' which was one of the songs that we planned to sing.
Things only got worse though, because our second competitors sang 'Don't Stop Believin'. which was our second song!
'We're so screwed!', Santana complained, when we were in the back room before our performance.
'For once I actually agree with her', Mercedes replied.
'Come on guys we can't give up!', Rachel exclaimed, 'We have to come up with new songs!'
'Oh shut up Rachel!', Kurt said, 'It's your fault we're in this trouble in the first place!'
'Guys stop', a familiar voice said suddenly from behind us.
We all turned around nd saw Finn standing there.
'Finn!', I exclaimed, running over to him.
'I can't believe you're here!', Rachel added.
'I couldn't let you guys do this without me', Finn smiled, avoiding Puck and Quinn, 'Plus Mr Shue convinced me.'
'Well even though you're here doesn't make things better', Santana said, 'Our songs have been stolen! It will look like we copied them!'
'Well I have one', Finn replied, 'We can do it as a group.'
'And I can sing a solo if it's need', Rachel added.
So that's what happened.
Even though a lot of us didn't want Rachel to do the solo, we knew she had the best voice in the group and we DID want to win, so we let her. Finn's song 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' was perfect and had the whole audience on their feet.
It felt AMAZING performing in front of so many people. I would never have dreamed that I would be doing it a few months ago.
All our hard work seemed to play off though, because WE were announced the winners! We got our trophy and would be performing at Regionals!
We screamed and roared with excitement! It was amazing that we had won! Mr Shue was going to be so proud!
Despite all the happiness and excitement that I felt, there was something niggling at me inside.
Why had Beau gotten so angry at me that morning? Why was he so mad at what I had said? I had only told the truth, right?
I knew in my heart and soul that I would have to go and apologize to him.
