41) 'And Wherever I am, Or Wherever You Are, I'll Always Be Here For You'

The weeks past slowly as my broken heart healed. Beau, nor any of the other boys, had contacted me, and Gina seemed to be avoiding me too. I had Finn, Ryder, and the rest of the glee club behind me though, and if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have survived.

One day, I was hanging out with Ryder, preparing for my NYADA audition ( That would be taking place in a few weeks time ), when he asked me, 'So Laur, do you think you're going to wait until college to start dating again?'

'Um', I replied, surprised at the random question, 'Well I haven't really thought about it to be honest. I guess it depends if I meet a nice guy.'

'Really?', Ryder asked, 'So, what kind of boy would you class as a 'Nice Guy'?'

'Um, someone kind, that I could trust, and he'd have to have a sense of humour!', I said, 'I've just described you haven't I? A guy like you Ryder!'

'Seriously?', Ryder asked, eyes wide, 'Well actually Lauren, I was wondering, would you, like to go on a date sometime, with me?'

'Uh', I mumbled, shocked.

'You don't have to!', Ryder replied, scratching his head, 'Maybe it's a bad idea.'

'Yeah', I sighed,'Ryder I love you, but as a friend. I don't think we should do anything that could ruin our friendship.'

'Oh, uh, sure', Ryder blushed, standing up, 'Anyway, I'd better go. My mom is expecting me home.'

'Ryder you don't have to go!', I said.

'No, I do', Ryder replied, heading for the door, 'See you later Lauren.'

'Bye', I sighed, and he left.

I had never guessed Ryder had liked me, so him asking me out on a date was a BIG surprise for me.

Honestly, I didn't know how I felt about it. I didn't think I would like to go out with Ryder, but when I saw how disappointed he was, I felt really bad.

Snapping me back into reality, my phone started to ring.

'Hello?', I answered it.

'Hey Laur', I heard Finn reply, 'I was just wondering, do you want to get something to eat? I fancy something from 'Breadstix' and I know how much you love the food there.'

'Um, okay', I said, 'I'd love to Finn.'

'Great!', Finn replied, 'Give me ten minutes and I'll pick you up.'

'Awesome, see you then', I smiled, and then hung up.

True to his word, Finn arrived at my house exactly ten minutes later.

'So what's up?', I asked him, as he drove us to 'Breadstix'.

'What do you mean?', Finn replied.

'Finn', I started, 'Boys just don't spontaneously ask girls out for something to eat, there's obviously something you want to talk about. What is it?'

'You know me well', Finn laughed, 'Can we wait until we get to the restaurant?'

'Sure', I replied, and started humming along to the radio.

'I still love her', Finn admitted to me, as we ate our food in 'Breadstix', twenty minutes later.

'Well of course you do!', I replied, putting my hand over his, 'Finn, you and Rachel are meant to be together! Everybody knows that, and the sooner you get back together the better!'

'But now she's going to be on Broadway I don't think she'll have any time for me anymore', Finn said.

A few weeks earlier Rachel had called us all in glee club to tell us that she had been cast as 'Fanny Brice' in the revival production of 'Funny Girl', a part that she had always dreamed of playing.

'I know Rachel can be pretty self-centered', I shrugged, making Finn laugh, 'But I also know how much she's always loved you, and I bet she still does. So you can come to New York with Blaine, Sam, and I in a few weeks time ( Blaine and I were going for our NYADA audition, and Sam wanted to go for modelling auditions ) and get your girl!'

'Okay, okay I will', Finn said, 'Anyway, what about you Laur? Have you got your eye on any nice guy?'

'It's funny you should ask me that', I replied, 'Ryder asked me out on a date earlier.'

'Did you say yes?', Finn asked.

'No', I mumbled.

'WHAT?!', Finn exclaimed, 'Why not? Ryder is a great guy!'

'Yeah he is', I agreed, 'But I see him as more of a friend.'

'Well seeing as you gave me romantic advice', Finn smirked, 'Let me give you some. Ryder is a great guy, and is clearly crazy about you. Even if you guys just went out on one date, and see what happens after that, you'll never be able to say, 'What if?''

'I guess', I replied, 'Thanks Finn, you're always here for me.'

'And wherever I am, or wherever you are, I'll always be here for you Laur', Finn smiled, 'Remember that.'

With that we finished our meal, and went back to Finn's car so he could take me home.

As we drove we sang along, jokingly, to the radio for fun.

We were laughing at each other as we reached a cross-roads a few minutes from my house.

When the traffic lights went green Finn continued, but suddenly there was a flash of lights.

'FINN!', I screamed, as I saw that it was a truck's headlights coming towards us from Finn's side of the car.

The last thing I remembered was Finn looking at me with panic stricken eyes, and then everything went black.
