The next few days passed in a blur as I watched Beau ( Who I had cried bitter tears over ) and his girlfriend ( Who I had discovered was called Alison ) strut around the school. Well, she strutted, he just kind of followed her, giving me small smiles as he passed me, because she woulldn't let him talk to me.
'I can't fucking stand her!', Luke said, one day at lunch, as I sat with him and the rest of the guys, after asking him what he thought of Alison.
'Seriously?', I asked,.
'Anyone of us can't!', Daniel added, 'She's a fucking bitch, and she walks like she has a fucking pole stuck up her ass!'
'And the fans know it too', James said, 'Beau told us that she's been getting a lot of hate.'
'James I got hate', I reminded him, 'It doesn't mean that I'm a bitch.'
'Not like her Laur', Jai said, 'Plus you don't get it anymore. Our fans know a nice girl when they see one.'
'Aw thanks Jai', I replied, 'Anyway, how does it feel to be in your last week of school?'
That's right. Seeing as it was the last week of school before Summer vacation, it was the boys last few days at McKinley.
'It feels good', Luke replied, 'I can't wait to get the fuck out of here and go to L.A next month.'
'You guys are so lucky!', I said, 'I'll probably be spending my days re-reading 'Twilight' or something.'
'No way! You'll find something to do Laur', Jai replied.
'I hope so!', I giggled, standing up because the bell had rung for the end of lunch, 'Anyway, I'll see you guys later!'
What the boys didn't know though is that I was actually really worried about the Summer. They would be in L.A, Kurt would be spending every day with Blaine, and I was sure Mercedes would be spending a lot of her time with Sam. So I would be on my own, no doubt thinking about Beau and Alison. I needed an escape!
That was what I was contemplating that night, as I lay on my bed, when my phone suddenly rang.
I looked at the caller I.D, and was surprised to see that it was an Irish number.
'Hello?', I answered it, a little bit confused.
'Laur! How are you?', the voice, who I instantly recognized as my cousin Jessica replied.
Jessica was four years older than me, and a stunner with long brown hair, and blue eyes. We were so close when we were younger that we were almost like sisters. Unlike me though, Jessica had never been talented at music, and had studied journalism in college. She had graduated that Summer.
'I'm good', I said, 'What about you Jess?'
'I'm fantastic!', Jessica replied, 'I'm just after getting a job to write for a new music magazine called 'Kick It!'. That's actually why I'm calling you.'
'Really?', I asked, confused, 'Why?'
'Because I need an assistant for a few weeks', Jessica explained, 'And the first person I thought of was you.'
'Jess I think you're forgetting something', I laughed, 'I'm in LIMA OHIO. You know, in AMERICA! I just can't go back to Ireland just like that. I don't have the money!'
'That's the beauty of it! You don't need money come here!', Jessica replied, 'My boss will pay for your flights, and you can live with me! All you need is spending money! Come on Laur, it'll be fun! All you'll have to do is help me with interviews like making tea and coffee and stuff. Plus you'll be meeting some pretty famous people.'
'It does sound awesome, and I have nothing planned for the Summer', I said, 'But I doubt Mam and Dad will let me go.'
'I already talked to them', Jessica replied, straight away, 'They have no problem with it. So what do you say Laur? Are you in?'
'I'M IN!', I exclaimed.
'Brilliant!', Jessica laughed, 'We're gonna have a great time!'
So that was that, my Summer was sorted! I could enjoy myself back home in Ireland for a while, and more importantly I didn't have to think about Beau Brooks. It was the perfect escape.
