26) The Prom Date

That was exactly what I told Beau, Daniel, Jai, Luke and Daniel when I met them the next day, which was the day before they left for L.A.

'That's great Lauren!', Daniel said, 'You' better wear it at Nationals!'

'Of course I will!', I replied, 'Anyway, you guys have a great time in California!'

'Don't worry', James winked at me, 'We will.'

Shortly after that I left them to pack ( of course they still weren't ready ), and went home.

'Well Laur', Mam said, as I walked into the kitchen, 'Are you excited about tomorrow?'

'Yep!', I replied, 'I can't wait!'

You see the boys weren't the only ones that we're doing something exciting the next day. After years of begging my parents to let me get contact lenses, they had finally given in and agreed because I was now seventeen.

'So what time are we going to the opticians?', I asked.

'Nine', Mam replied, 'I'm nearly as excited as you!'

'Thank you so much mam', I said, giving her a hug, 'I love you.'

'Love you too Laur', Mam smiled, hugging me back.

So the next say ( which was Saturday ), Mam and I woke up extra early and headed for the opticians.

Two hours later I was home, minus my glasses.

'I look so different!', I gasped, as I stared into the mirror in the hallway, 'I think I look younger.'

'You look beautiful Lauren', Mam replied, 'I wonder what Beau will think.'

'Beau?', I asked, confused that she would mention him of all people.

'Yeah', Mam nodded, 'You have a thing for him, don't you?'

''WHAT?!', I exclaimed, before bursting out laughing, 'God no! Beau is my friend Mam, nothing more!'

There was only one person I wanted to impress with my new 'No Glasses' look, and that was of course Finn Hudson.

So the next day I was ready to show everyone. I couldn't wait to get tp school.

As it turned out I was late arriving because Dad had to drive me there because the Brooks weren't there.

I got inside the school halls just as it was time for glee club.

Taking a breathe I stepped into the choir room.

'Sorry I'm late Mr Shue', I said, as he and the rest of the glee club stood around the piano with their backs to me.

'No problem Laur-', Mr Shuester replied, but stopped when he turned around and saw me, 'Lauren is that you?'

'Yeah', I smiled, delighted that I obviously looked so different, 'I got contact lenses.'

'Wow Lauren you look really hot!', Sam exclaimed.

'Thanks Sam!', I laughed.

'Yeah Lauren', Finn said, eyes wide, 'You look, you look great!'

'Thanks Finn', I replied, feeling myself blush.

I was so happy at what Finn had said that I felt like I was walking on air.

The day got even better later when Kurt arrived back at McKinley. He had really missed the school, and had decided to move back when his dad sorted out the issue of his bullying.

As you could predict, the next three weeks were great as I hung out with Kurt every day, and often spotted Finn looking at me, as we prepared for Nationals. I still missed the Brooks and James and Daniel though, and was over the moon when they came back home.

I was upstairs, studying, when I heard noise outside. 

I went out into the hallway and looked out the window to see Beau, Jai, Luke and Gina getting out of a taxi.

I was so excited to meet them I ran down the stairs and straight out the front door.

'Hey guys!', I greeted them.

'Hey Lauren!', Jai replied as Beau and Luke got their luggage out of the taxi, ''Whoa! Where did your glasses go?'

'Oh!', I laughed, touching my face, 'I got contacts, pretty cool huh?'

'Very cool', Jai nodded, 'Oh my God Lauren L.A was AMAZING! It's so sunny!'

'Sounds awesome!', I said, 'So, did you meet Ariana?'

Jai immediately blushed and replied, 'Uh yeah, and she's really nice Lauren. I really like her, and I know it might sound crazy, but I think she likes me too. We've been texting since we met.'

'Aw!', I gushed, 'That's so cute! I'm really delighted for you Jai.'

'So how's my favourite Irish gal?', I heard Luke ask, suddenly behind me.

'I'm great!', I replied, turning around, 'Delighted to have ye back!'

'Of course you are!', Luke said, 'By the way, I love the non-glasses look.'

I was just about to thank him when Beau, who was standing behind him said, 'Yeah Lauren, you look beautiful!'

Despite myself I felt myself blush. Out of all the compliments I had gotten since getting my contacts, nobody had called me 'Beautiful'. It felt great!

'Thank you Beau', I mumbled.

'So, are you going to ask her?', Jai said to Beau.

'Ask me what?', I asked, confused.

'Well, when we were away Beau said that he wanted to ask you something when we got back', Luke explained, 'He wanted to ask-'

'If you'll go to the prom with me?', Beau asked, cutting Luke off.

'Wha-what?', I asked, shocked, 'Are you serious?'

'Uh, yeah', Beau mumbled, 'We were talking about prom while we were away and wondering who we'd ask. Anyway, you owe me because I went to Kurt's dad's wedding with you.'

'True', I nodded, with my arms folded.

'So, what do you say Lauren, will you go to the prom with me?', Beau asked.

'Sure', I smiled, before I really thought it through, 'I'll go with you.'

'Whoop whoop!', Luke sudden;y said, punching his hand in the air.

So that was that. I was going to the prom with the one person I NEVER thought I would.

It was funny how things were changing.

I had no idea how much things would change in the next few months though.
