22) The Bully

The next day was strange without Kurt in school. After all, we were practically always together!

'What's with the long face Lauren?', JaI asked me, when he sat beside me at lunch time in the cafeteria.

'She's missing her boyfriend', Beau, who was sitting down on my others side, replied, before I had a chance to, 'Kurt's not in school today.'

'Oh ha ha! Very funny!', I said, sarcastically, 'So Beau, how's your girlfriend? Oh wait! You don't have one!'

'Ooh!', Jai and Luke ( Who had just joined us ) said.

'Excuse me but I can have any girl I want', Beau replied, smugly, 'There are thousands of girls that would die to meet me, not to mind date me.'

The thing was, he wasn't lying. The boys had released more and more videos and had gained more and more fans. There were now 'Janoskianators' in most countries around the world.

'Whatever', I said, standing up to leave, 'I need to get to class.'

I was at home that night trying to do my maths homework, which was impossible, when my phone rang.

Deciding it was time for a well deserved break, I answered it.

'LAUREN?!', I heard Kurt scream into my ear.

'Hey Kurt', I giggled, 'How are you? What was it like at Dalton today?'

'Oh Lauren!', I heard Kurt say, dreamily, 'It was amazing, I think I'm after falling in love!'

'What?', I asked, 'With who?'

'Blaine', Kurt sighed, 'Anderson.'

'Blaine Anderson?', I asked, knowing that I recognized the name, 'Wait! Isn't that the guy that Mr Shue warned us about? The amazing singer?'

'Yeah', Kurt replied, 'He sang for me Lauren! He's so hot, and guess what! He's gay like me!'

'How do you know?', I asked, puzzled.

'He told me', Kurt said, 'And he gave me his number AND he added me on Facebook.'

'But Kurt!', I replied, 'He'll see that you go to McKinley! He'll know you were spying on them!'

''Actually I told him that already', Kurt admitted.

'WHAT?!', I exclaimed, 'So he knows you were spying on them? Kurt he might tell the 'Show Choir Commission'. We might be thrown out of the competition!'

'No he told me that he thought it was fun!', Kurt explained, 'Like in a 'James Bond' movie! Oh Lauren he's so great! I even told him about Dave and he gave me advice to deal with him because he was bullied at his previous school.'

'Well that's great Kurt', I replied, 'I've got a lot of homework to do so I'd better go. Talk to you tomorrow!'

'Bye Laur!', Kurt said, before I switched off my phone.

I sighed as I leaned back in my chair. 

Even though Kurt wasn't going out with this Blaine guy, I knew it would only be a matter of time. That would mean the only single members of the glee club would be Mercedes and I. 

What a depressing thought!

The next day I arrived at school with the Brooks as usual to find Kurt waiting for me at my locker.

'Hey Kurtie', I said.

'Hi Laur', Kurt replied, beaming, 'Guess what, I'm gonna do it!'

'Do what?', I asked, confused.

'I'm gonna stand up to Dave if he bothers me today!', Kurt replied.

'Seriously? Why the change in heart?', I asked.

'Because Blaine told me I could do it!', Kurt explained, 'And he's right, I can! I'm not gonna be pushed around anymore.'

'That's great Kurt', I said, giving him a hug, 'I'm proud of you!'

It was later that day when I met Kurt again, in the cafeteria.

'So', I said, 'Did Dave bother you today?'

'Yeah', Kurt mumbled, avoiding eye contact, 'He did.'

'And did you get him a piece of your mind?', I asked, 'Did you give him a taste of his own medicine?'

''Yep', Kurt replied, still not looking at me.

'So what did he say?', I asked, impatient at Kurt's responses.

'He', Kurt whispered, finally looking up at me, 'He kissed me.'

'HE WHAT?!', I exclaimed, totally shocked.

'SSH!', Kurt replied, 'Don't let people hear!'

'Sorry', I whispered, 'Kurt, what the hell happened?'

'Well, he started taunting me and I took Blaine's advice, I told him what I thought of him. The next thing I knew, it was kissing me', Kurt explained, 'Ugh! Imagine, my first kiss being the guy that's bullying me!'

'So that's why he's so mean to you', I replied, 'He's gay, but he's too afraid to come out. That's actually pretty sad.'

'Yeah I know', Kurt said, 'I wish I could help him.'

'Maybe you can!', I replied, 'Kurt if you go to Principal Figgins and report the bullying, maybe it will encourage Dave to come out.'

'I'll see', Kurt sighed, 'Anyway, have you got your bridesmaid's dress?'

'Yep!', I smiled, 'And it fits perfectly! I can't wait for the wedding!'

I should explain. Kurt's dad and Finn's mam were tying the knot in two weeks time, and they had asked Mr Shue could the glee club sing for the ceremony.  Of course he had agreed. 

I just hoped by the time the wedding came along, that Kurt would be finally bully-free.
