Two weeks later, Ryder and I were the 'It Couple' at McKinley.

We had gone on our first date, and our second date, and after the third date ( When Ryder kissed me on my doorstep ) we had agreed to announce that we were going out.

All our friends in the glee club were delighted for us, and I was too. I deserved to be happy with a great guy like Ryder.

I was so loved up that I hardly noticed the time passing, and soon the date for my NYADA audition beckoned.

'I wish you all the luck in the world', Ryder said, and then kissed me, before Blaine, Sam, and my plane left the airport.

'Don't worry dude', Sam said, putting an arm around my shoulder, 'We'll take care of her.'

'You better', Ryder smiled, 'Have a great time guys.'

'See you later Ryder', I said, giving him one last hug before we boarded the plane.

With that Blaine, Sam and I went on our way to the 'Big Apple' , and when we arrived there Kurt, Rachel and Santana had a huge welcome for us.

'Wow! This place is great!', I said, as I looked around their loft apartment.

'Thanks Laur', Kurt replied, 'Oh gosh I've missed you!'

With that he scooped me up into a hug.

'I've missed you too Kurt', I giggled, 'McKinley isn't the same without you.'

'Of course it's not', Kurt said, striking a pose, 'How could they be okay without me?'

'Come on guys! It's time for dinner!', Rachel called us from the dining area of the loft.

That night I had to share a bed with Rachel, and although she hadn't always been my favourite person in the world, we were getting on great, and inevitably started talking about one person.

'You know I was jealous of you, right?', Rachel said, turning to face me.

'What?', I asked, 'How could YOU have been jealous of ME?'

'Because you and had such a special relationship with him', Rachel sighed, 'Finn was always talking about you. How funny you were, how kind you were, and how he didn't want you dating Beau Brooks. He knew he would hurt you some day, and couldn't bare the thought of that happening to you. He really cared about you Lauren.'

'Do you know he was planning to come with me and the guys this weekend so that he could sweep you off your feet?', I asked Rachel.

'No', he replied.

'The reason why we went out for dinner the night of the accident was because he wanted to tell me that he was still in love with you, and wanted my advice', I explained, 'Then I suggested he come with us and he agreed. You were the only girl he ever wanted Rachel, you were his true love.'

'And he was mine', Rachel sniffed.

'Don't worry Rachel', I said, softly, 'You'll find someone eventually, and you'll be happy.'

With that Rachel and I said good night. The next day was Blaine and my NYADA audition so I wanted to get a good nights sleep.

Which of course didn't happen because I was so nervous, and the next morning came I looked like death warmed up.

'Are you okay Lauren?', Blaine asked, when we were waiting in a corridor in NYADA later that day, waiting to audition.

'Yeah, just a little nervous', I whispered, trying to breathe normally and ignore the butterflies in my stomach.

Just then a man in a black suit came out of the room at the end of the corridor and called, 'Blaine Anderson?'

'Good luck Blaine!', I whispered, and he smiled at me before following the man into the audition room.

Ten minutes later, Blaine came out.

'How did it go?', I asked him.

'Really well I think', Blaine beamed, 'They're really nice too. Just relax and sing your best. I know you can do this Laur!'

With that the same man that had called Blaine came out and said, 'Lauren O' Hanlon?'

'That's me', I said, grabbing my bag.

'Good luck!', Blaine whispered, turning to leave, 'I'll wait outside for you.'

I then turned and walked into the audition room, trying to stop my hands from shaking.

Sitting behind a long desk were four people with serious expressions on their faces.

'I'm Lauren O' Hanlon', I announced, 'And I'm going to be singing ''Maybe This Time'' from ''Cabaret'''.

I then put a backing track into a stereo beside me, took a breath and started to sing.

'Thank you Lauren', a woman with short black hair said, when I was finished, 'We'll let you know.'

'Great!', I replied, 'Thank you.'

I then got my CD, and left the room.

'How did it go?', Blaine asked me, when I walked out and met him in the busy New York street outside NYADA.

'Good I think', I smiled, 'Come on! Lets go to Starbucks for coffee.'

'You don't have to tell me twice', Blaine replied, putting his arm around my shoulder.

After buying our drinks, Blaine and I headed back to the loft to find out if Sam had gotten anywhere with his modelling interviews ( Which he had been attending while we were at our audition ).

'I've got a contract!', he announced, when we asked him.

'WHOO HOO!', I exclaimed.

'Next year is going to be AMAZING!', Blaine said, 'We're all going to be here in New York!'

Just then, Blaine's phone and my phone rang at the same time.

'Oh my God it's NYADA!', I said, checking the caller-I.D.

'You go into the bathroom and I'll go into Kurt'd bedroom and we'll answer at the same time', Blaine replied, his hands shaking.

Giggling with excitement, I did what he told me and ran into the loft's tiny bathroom.

When I answered the phone a woman started speaking to me.

Five minutes later I hung up the phone, and could hear Blaine telling Sam that he had been accepted.

'LAUREN!', he exclaimed, when I walked back into the living room, 'Did you get in? Were you accepted?'

'Of course she was!', Sam beamed at me.

I took a breath and whispered, 'No, I wasn't.'

The lady on the phone had told me that, unfortunately, I had failed to pass the entrance exam.

in that moment I felt my dreams all come crashing down around me.

All I ever wanted to do was perform, but now I had to come to terms that I just wasn't good enough.
