21) Kurt's Problem

The next few weeks past quickly as school continued.

There was now three new couples in glee club; Tina and Mike, Sam and Quinn, and Artie and Brittany ( I know, random right? ). While Kurt, Mercedes, and I remained single as always.

We also ( almost ) staged a production of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show', but Mr Shue decided against it at the last minute.

I guess his head wasn't in the right place because he had split up with Ms Pilsbury a few weeks earlier, and now she had a new boyfriend; Carl the dentist.

During this time, Puck was sent to Juvie. Which wasn't really a surprise to be honest,. He was always a hell-raiser. He was released after a month.

'The Janoskians' were also going from strength to strength, and they started filming dare videos called 'Dare Sundays'. I thought they were idiots to do the dares, but they enjoyed it.

During this time though, Kurt started acting differently. He was quieter, and kept to himself more. It was kind of scaring Mercedes and I because he had always been so bubbly and happy.

'He's just worrying me I guess', I said to Beau one evening when I was at his house playing FIFA, 'There's definitely something wrong.'

Well why don't you ask him?', Beau shrugged, engrossed in the game, 'That might be the best place to start.'

'Don't you think we've not tried that!', I replied, rolling my eyes, 'Seriously Beau, you really doubt my intelligence sometimes.'

'Of course I don't!', Beau said, nudging me in the arm, 'But why don't you ask him again? It can't hurt.'

'I suppose', I mumbled, 'Yeah I will actually! I have to know if he's okay!'

So the next day in school I met Mercedes at her locker.

'But Lauren we tried to talk to him!', she said, when I told her we needed to speak to Kurt again, 'It's no use!'

'Fine', I sighed, 'I'll ask him on my own.'

'Wait!', Mercedes said, just as I was about to walk away, 'You're right/. Lets go talk to him again. I think he's in the cafeteria.'

So Mercedes and I went on our way to find Kurt, but we didn't get as far as the cafeteria. This was because when we turned to corner where Kurt's locker was, we were stopped by the sight of him pinned up against his locker by Dave Karofsky, who was a football player and obviously a bully.

'Hey!', Mercedes exclaimed, as we ran to rescue Kurt, 'What the hell are you doing?!'

'It's okay guys', Kurt replied, his eyes steady on Dave, 'I've got this.'

'Oh really?', Dave sneered at him, and then shot his leg into Kurt's groin, making out best friend crunch down in pain, 'Maybe that will make you straight homo!'

With that he walked off.

'Oh my God Kurt!', Mercedes exclaimed, as we ran over to him.

'Please don't tell anyone', Kurt gasped in pain, still bent over as I put my arm around him.

'Yeah right!', I said, 'Kurt you can't live like this! Dave will kill you!'

'I can't tell!', Kurt replied, managing to stand straight.

'Why the hell not?', Mercedes asked.

'Because, because I just can't', Kurt replied, dropping his eyes, just as the bell rang, 'Come on we have to get to glee club.'

Knowing that we wouldn't be able to convince him to tell on Dave, Mercedes and I followed Kurt into the choir room.

'Okay guys', Mr Shue started, when everybody was in the room, 'I got a letter about this years Sectionals.'

'Who are we up against Mr Shue?', Finn asked, as Rachel hung on his arm.

'The Dalton Academy For Boy's glee club 'The Warblers'', Mr Shue replied.

I won't lies, everyone burst out laughing. I mean 'The Warblers'? What kind of a name for a glee club was that?

'I wouldn't laugh if I were you you guys', Mr Shue said, when we had calmed down, 'Those guys are noted for being as amazing group. They do all their performances with harmony, and they have a great lead singer. I think his name is Blaine.'

'We NEED to beat him guys!', Finn said,

'But how?', Tina asked.

'Someone could always go undercover there', Sam shrugged, 'That would be cool. We'd get the inside info too.'

A light bulb seemed to switch on in my head at that moment.

'Hey Kurt', I whispered, 'You could go! It would get you out of the school for the day, which means a day without being hassled by Dave.'

Kurt's eyes seemed to light up at the mention of the possibility.

'I don't know guys', Mr Shue said, at that point, 'We want to win this competition fair and square, don't we?'

'Yeah but it wouldn't hurt Mr Shue', Quinn replied.

'And I know exactly who to send!', I added ,'Kurt! You'd like to go, wouldn't you Kurt?'

'Yeah', Kurt said to Mr Shue, 'I'd love to go.'

After a few minutes Mr Shue sighed and said, 'Fine. Kurt you'll go to Dalton tomorrow.'

'Great, and don't worry guys, I won't let you down', Kurt replied, excited at the thought.

I was delighted. If it meant Kurt was safe for even one day, it was worth it.

Never did I think that that trip to Dalton would change life as we knew it.
