13) Unrequited Love Sucks, Don't it?

Exactly a week after Finn broke up with Rachel, Mr Shue announced that we had a new member in the glee club, Jesse St. James. He had recently started dating Rachel after meeting at the library, and had switched schools to be able to spend more time with her.

We should have been delighted to have another member, right?

Unfortunately we weren't, because Jesse just happened to have been the lead singer of our main rivals from Carmel High, Vocal Adrenaline. So, we were not willing to trust him that much. After all, what would stop him going back to his old school before Regionals, and taking all our ideas with him? He might have been just using Rachel.

But believe it or not, over time he won us all over with his charming personality, ( Did I mention he was good looking? ), even Finn who hated him more than everyone else.

Talking of Finn, he had quickly gotten sick of Santana and Brittany, and had begged Rachel to give him a second chance, but she had Jesse now so she didn't.

Weeks past and eventually it was nearly time for Regionals.

Two days before it though I was at home sick with the flu, and that just happened to be the day that the others discovered the real Jesse St. James.

I was at home in bed with a cup of tea, my hair a mess, and my nose red from wiping it with tissues, when there was a knock on my door. 

'Come in Mam', I called, wondering why she had knocked on the first place, usually she just barged in.

Imagine my surprise when I saw that it wasn't my mother, but Finn who came into my bedroom.

'FINN!', I exclaimed, smoothing down my hair, when I saw him, 'What, what are you doing here?'

'Um', Finn replied, looking around my bedroom, 'Sorry Lauren, you're mom said it was okay to come up.'

'Well I guess it is', I mumbled, 'So, why are you here? I'll be back in school tomorrow.'

'I needed someone to talk to about what happened today', Finn replied, walking over and sitting on the side of my bed beside me.

'Why?', I asked, 'What happened?'

'The guys didn't tell you already?', Finn said.

'No', I shrugged, 'What is it?'

'Jesse showed us his true colours', Finn replied, 'He's been using Rachel all along! He's back with Vocal Adrenaline!'

'Oh my God!', I gasped, 'When did he tell you?'

'He didn't tell US, he told Rachel, and he didn't exactly tell her either to be honest', Finn explained, 'He told her to meet him the school parking lot, and then he and the rest of Vocal Adrenaline threw eggs at her!' 

'That bastard!', I replied, imagining how heartbroken Rachel must have been, she was crazy about Jesse.

'I know, but you know what's the worst thing Lauren?', Finn said, 'If I hadn't broken up with Rachel in the first place, they would never have met! It's all my fault!'

'Finn don't beat yourself about this', I tried to reassure him, 'We'll get through this.'

'Lauren, can I tell you a secret?', Finn asked, his face just a few inches from mine.

'Uh sure', I nodded, trying not to stare at his lips.

'I, I think I love her', Finn whispered, 'I love Rachel Berry.'

At that moment I felt my heart break into a million pieces. I had known that Finn cared about Rachel, but had never thought that he cared for her that much!

'Well', I whispered, gulping, 'You should tell her that.'

'Really?', Finn asked, taking hold of my hand, 'Would that not freak her out? Jesse's just after breaking up with her after all.'

'Finn', I sighed, 'Tell her before it's too late. Before she falls for someone else.'

'Sounds like you're speaking from experience Lauren', Finn said.

'Yeah', I sniffed, trying not to cry, 'I guess you could say that.'

'Don't worry Lauren', Finn whispered, 'You'll find a nice guy soon.'

'Sure hope so', I said.

'You will', Finn replied, before standing up, 'Well I'd better go. I'll see you in school tomorrow.'

'Yep', I nodded, 'See you then.'

Finn smiled at me before saying, 'Thank you Lauren.'

'No problem', I replied, giving him a small smile in return.

And with that Finn walked out of my room.

I sat there for a few minutes, thinking about Finn had said.

I WOULD find my dream guy, I just had to look for him.
