Percy's P.O.V.
It's only been two months. Two months after the the big battle with Gaea. After all that, we've been feeling exhausted, emotionally and physically. But even through all that, and being with the people I care about, it almost seems the whole incident never happened. As much as all of us recovering, the camp was too, and at a surprisingly fast pace. The cabins were getting retouched, campers (especially the Demeter cabin) were fixing the fields and hills from the mid-sized craters the Earthborn and other monsters created. And soon, the camp looked better than before.
One hot afternoon, I was hanging in my cabin with Annabeth. We were lying on my bed, talking about what school we should go to for our senior year.
"I still think my choice is better." She said. I chuckled lightly.
"Annabeth, school isn't until September. It's July. We have time to look at more." I said.
She sighed. "You're right."
"Wait, did you just say I was right?" I said grinning.
"I'm not saying it twice Seaweed Brain." She laid back and put her hands on her face. "Ever since the battle, I've been having the lack of relaxation. I just need like, a break."
"I get you. It's not everyday you fight against Mother Nature and her weirdly creations."
There, we both laid in silence, thinking about that day. It was one of the toughest battles we've ever had. This year had been very rough. I wake up from a slumber that lasted six months, sail on a magical ship to another Greece, with monsters on our tails, fall into the most horrible place with Annabeth, and fight huge sized Giants and even more monsters. I mean we deserved a break.
But what could we do....?
Then, a lightbulb turned on in my head.
"Hey, I know a way for all of us to relax, but have fun at the same time." I said.
"Wow, Percy, two good ideas in one day? That's something." She snickered.
"No, Annabeth. I'm serious." I said with a whiny tone.
"Alright, what is it then?" She had a "sarcastic face" planted on.
Later in the day...
Lunch had started and I found my friends at our table. After "that", Chiron had let us share a table together. Us consisting, me, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Leo (pretend he never vanished...) and Nico.
I got my food and returned to the table with a huge grin.
"Okay, you're starting to creep me out a bit. What's up." Piper asked.
"I have an idea. " I said back.
"Wow, Jackson has an idea. Hopefully one that doesn't kill us all, I hope." Nico said sarcastically. I looked at him and mimicked what he said. He just rolled his eyes.
"Actually, it was a pretty good one." Annabeth said. "I know, rare thing."
"All right then dude, say it." Leo said.
"We should take a road trip!" I said bursting from the bench seat. All of their eyes looked up at me.
"Actually, that doesn't sound as bad." Jason said. Piper and Leo nodded.
"I don't know..." Nico said.
"C'mon. It's going to be fun." I said.
"Woo Hoo. Fun." He said in a monotone voice.
"Come and we won't annoy you anymore." Annabeth said. "Well, Leo and Percy won't, saying that they're the only ones that do."
He inhaled sharply, and exhaled slowly. "Fine. But even is you two think of some funny business, I'm out."
"Sir yes sir!" Leo and I said standing straight. Nico eyed us. "Starting now." I said. Piper laughed quietly.
"Alright then! I'll go Iris Message the others at Camp Jupiter. Be right back." I said already leaving towards my cabin.
Two days later...
It was settled. We all decided that Nico would shadow travel to California to get Frank, Hazel, and Reyna. Then we'd let him rest for a day before coming back here with them, and we'd meet in front of the Empire State Building to go. Nico had already left a few minutes ago, and I was impatient.
I was bored out of my mind. And I think everyone could tell.
"Alright! Enough with the moping Seaweed Brain. He's coming tomorrow!" Annabeth had said.
"Percy, be patient he'll be here tomorrow." Piper told me.
"Ride out the wave, man...." Leo said moving his hands like in a wave motion.
"He'll be here in a few hours." Jason said to me.
Later that afternoon, I started packing my stuff. Let me go over it again...let's see, I have clothes, toiletries... I snickered at the word, other stuff. Yea I think I have it all. I brought Riptide in case anything happens. You can never be too sure.
That night I lied in bed, without feeling tied at all. A few minutes passed by, then an hour. I sighed dramatically hoping to catch someone's attention. Then I realized, Oh yeah, I'm the only one here. So I closed my eyes, hoping I'll fall asleep faster that way. And soon, I did.
That night, I had a weird dream. I was in a city. Not like New York, less buildings. But the creepy part was the sky. It was a deep red. As I scanned the horizon, I noticed the buildings and streets were made is stone, but were very badly cracked. A deep roar came from behind. When I turned around, my eyes widened. Standing close to me was a huge monster thing. It was red, very muscular, had two long horns paired with white hair on its head. It's feet were goat like, almost similar to Grover's. It turned to face me with this horrible expression on its face. It put its foot in the air. I frantically searched myself for Riptide, but the sword was nowhere to be seen. Then, with a loud laugh, it stomped its leg down on me.
I woke up bolting up from my bed. My breathing calmed down. What. Was. That. About. I didn't even realize it was morning already. Ok, probably doesn't even mean anything. Won't let a bad dream mess with today.
I ran out of my cabin knocking on each of my friends' cabins saying,"C'mon! Today's the day!"
I decided not to tell them about the dream. Well, not now. I hoped it had nothing to do with the trip.
