Piper's POV

"Ellis, we are going to be late for our first day!" I yell, from the kitchen from our apartment. "Just one more second!" she yells back. I roll my eyes, and make sure I have everything ready for our first day.

We are starting our first day as resident's at Seattle Grace.

"Okay, ready!" she yells, running out of her room. She grabs her purse, and we start to head out towards the car. We get there, and hop in. We click in our seat belts, and start driving to the hospital. We got an apartment close to the hospital, so it would be easier.

About 5 minutes later, we pull into the parking lot of the hospital. We park the car and get out. We walk towards one another and link arms.

"How did we get here?" I ask Ellis. "I don't know, but its pretty damn cool" she says. We stand outside of the hospital. "Today is our first day of residency" I say.  We both did our internship at another hospital, but they stopped doing the program when we got into our resident years.

"Our parents did there internship, residency, and are attendings here." Ellis says.

"No pressure then" I say. We both start laughing. "I guess we could call ourselves the next generation" She says.

"I mean, yeah" I say smiling.

"ready?" she asks. "Yes." I say.We continue on towards the hospital to begin our journey  of being the 'Next Generation'.

Right when we step foot in the hospital, we are consumed in the busyness of it. We start to head towards the residents lounge. "Do you know who you are starting out with today?" Ellis asks me.

"Actually, I am starting out with my dad, so plastics." I reply. "I start out in Neuro, and I got your mom." she says. We both laugh, and head towards our lockers.

We grab our light blue scrubs, and change into them. After that, we stuff everything in our lockers, and start to head out when my phone rings.

"Its my dad" I say. "We didn't tell them we where here, did we?" she asks. "It may have slipped my mind" I say. We start laughing, but contain ourself so we can answer the call.

"Hey dad" I answer.

"Piper! Hey how is your first day as residents going?" he asks.

"Good, I was assigned to Plastics today!" I respond.

"Thats good! Me and your mom wish you the best for your first day!" he says.

"Thanks dad, love you two" I say.

"Okay, do great things!" he says.

The line goes dead, and me and Ellis look at one another. "How are we gonna tell them?" she asks. "We just walk up to them" I say, and start walking to them.

We continue walking till we get to them. They have their backs turned to us, but we can still here their conversation.

"I really wish they would have came here" I hear my dad say. "Me too, but as long as they are doing well" Derek says. "And thats all we should care about, is how they are doing" my mom says. "Yes, but we better get ready, because we have incoming residents" Meredith says.

"Speaking of residents, we are right here" I say, coming up from behind them. My dad turns around, and his eyes go wide. "Piper! What are you guys doing here?" He asks, engulfing me in a hug.

Derek goes over and hugs Ellis. "Doing doctor things and what not" I respond, smiling. "I am so glad your here" He says, smiling from ear to ear. I go over and hug my mom. "I missed you" she whispers in my ear. "I missed you too" I whisper back.

"You all better start teaching, because we are here to work" Ellis says, smirking.

"Okay, residents, welcome to Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital." Derek says.
