"I love you" he spits out.

I look at him, and at first he as a petrified look on his face.

"I love you too" I respond.

Piper's POV

"Sloan!" I hear someone yell from behind me.

I stop in my tracks and wait for the person that called my name.

"Hey!" Ellis says, coming up to me.

"Glad to see you again" I say, smiling at her.

She lets out and laugh.

"I could say the same for you." She replies.

"Understood." I say, grabbing a chart from the desk.

"What service you on today?" I ask her.

"PEDS, Alex." She replies.

"Isn't he looking for you?" I ask.

"I was on the way up there right now, but I saw you and decided to see how everything was going." She responds.

"We said I love you." I say.

"Really!" She squeals.

"SHH" I shush her.

"Sorry, it's just. Wow" she says.

"What about you?" I ask her.

"Well I guess you could say we are in the same boat." She responds.

I look at her with wide eyes.

"Really!" I squeal.

"SHH!" she mocks me.

I let out a laugh.

"Well I better get to work. See you after shift?" She says.

I nod my head in response, and she goes on her way. I walk to the patiences room, checking over her chart.

NAME: Daniella Regrec
AGE: 27
She's young.
GENDER: Female
CAUSE: heart failure
She's really young.

I walk into the room and get greeted by what looks like her parents.

"Hello!" I say.

"Hello doctor." The mother says.

"How are you feeling today Daniella?" I ask her.

She shifts uncomfortably in the bed before answering, "I've been better".

"Okay, you surgery is scheduled for 3:20pm today, you haven't ate anything right?" I ask her.

"Nope the nurse came in last night and told me the whole 'no food' drill." She responds.

"Okay, and has anyone went over what is going to be happening in the surgery?" I ask her.

"Yes, and Doctor Yang is the one operating, correct?" Her father butts in.

"Yes, correct." I respond.

"Then what are you gonna do?" He asks.

"Well I am going to be in the operating room, assisting the doctor." I say.

"Okay." He responds.

"Do you have any questions?" I ask.

Everyone shakes their head no.

"Okay, well just press the button if you do have any." I say, starting to head out of the room.

Before I get fully out of the room I hear Daniella ask, "am I gonna die?"

I turn back around and grab a chair and sit down.

"There is no saying if you are or not. I am not trying to scare you, but I can assure you that Dr. Yang is one of the BEST cardio surgeons out there." I say, smiling at them.

"Thank you" they say, and then I really do leave the room.

"You did good in there." Dr. Yang says, standing outside of the door.

"Thank you." I respond.

"See you in surgery, Dr. Sloan."
