Opposite Dimensions & Civil Conversations

KAT

When I had finally fallen asleep, I felt as if I had awoken into another world.

I mean dreaming was supposed to be a good thing, wasn’t it? I could break away from reality and finally experience something that was my own.

It sounded nice when you put it in that perspective, but when you constantly had a boy who highly disliked you in your happy place, the whole statement was invalid.

When my eyes fluttered open into my dream-like state, I found myself back at the unfamiliar white house again. The house still appeared to be locked and empty and the dirt road was still at the edge of the front lawn with the giant oak tree standing tall on the far side.

I inhaled deeply and watched as the leaves on the trees swayed back and forth like a pendulum. I smiled to myself for no reason and stood up from my sitting position on the house’s front porch.

Where was Noel?

I looked left and right down the dirt road and even ran across the street to take a peek behind the oak tree. With no luck, I collapsed my back against the oak tree and closed my eyes in relaxation while I listened to the breeze.

I didn’t particular care that Noel didn’t show up, but this was just out of character for him. He usually showed up out of nowhere after I became conscious in my dreams and it had been like this for awhile now.

So why the sudden change? Maybe he had taken a break from hijacking dreams and stuck to his own for once…

Suddenly, I felt a warm touch to my waist, making my muscles tense up. While in a minor panic, I quickly flinched away until I heard the sound of familiar laughter.

Look who decided to show up…

Uncomfortable with his touch, I started to peal Noel’s hands from my waist until he tightened his grip and pulled me closer so that my back was resting on his chest.

“What do you think you’re doing?” He said smoothly into my ear.

I slightly shivered at the sound of his voice and instantly regretted it. What has gotten into you, Kat? This is a stranger, why are you moving closer to him?

When I came to my senses, I forcefully remove his hands from my waist and marched back across the dirt road. I found a seat on the porch of the house again and crossed my arms in distaste. Noel still was wearing that small smirk of his, so clearly he didn’t get the message that I was trying to give.

“What happened to me telling you to leave me alone? These are my dreams, remember?” I shouted, hoping he would back off.

He didn’t, of course. Instead he made his way across the dirt road and took a comfortable seat beside me. Once he sat down, I shifted away from him to keep a solid three person gap between us. The last thing I needed was to get any shivers or blush while he was near me. I still didn’t understand these feelings that I got in these dreams, but all I knew was that in real life, those feelings were inexistent.

I didn’t shiver or blush at Noel in real life or even felt any butterflies like I did in these strange dreams. In real life, I felt hurt and confused around him, like I was supposed to. He was a stranger and he kidnapped me for goodness sake!

“That is for me to know, and for you to find out,” Noel smiled radiantly and flashed me his white teeth.

In real life, Noel didn’t have a smile like that and his teeth were yellow and dirty from the lack of care. Now, looking at his fresh smile, I felt that this was just some sort of twin of Noel’s that I haven’t met. He acted differently, looked differently, but on the other hand, looked exactly like him. His facial features were the same, his dark ebony hair was the same and his blue eyes were the same, with the exception that they were filled with joy, unlike the real Noel.
