Sneaky Snitches & Confused Sisters
KAT
I thought that showing up in the powerless human world was the ultimate surprise, but I was wrong. Seeing my younger sister, red faced and curly haired in her all real human flesh, right in front of my eyes has to take the cake.
"Ella, what are you doing here?" I asked while struggling to stand up. It had completely slipped my mind that my ankle was still unusable, so when I put weight on both of my feet, I practically crumbled right back down to the ground.
Still determined, I limped my way over the Ella. Noel tried his best to help me, but I angrily waved him off. This was not the time to be chivalrous! My little sister is here!
Ella looked up at me with a guilty expression. "I don't know," she whispered, with a small pout.
"What do you mean 'you don't know'?" I asked her, my voice rising with every syllable. I knew that I was angry when a loud thunder clap sounded above us. Clouds started to morph into dark clumps, ready to strike and I could feel the wind starting to pick up to higher speeds.
I knew that I was overreacting, but I was a worried sister. How the hell did Ella get here and why was my step mother so careless to not be taking care of her? Stupid woman...
I groaned in frustration and looked up at the hectic sky. "Ella, you can't be here, you need to go home."
"Where are we?" Ella asked worriedly while lightly clinging to my arm.
I turned to Noel. "Noel, we have to take her. I have to take her home. Can't I just get through the portal back to the garden?"
"You can't. You can't even walk straight on your own and the flickers will want to know what happened to you when they see your ankle," He replied whole heartedly.
I threw my hand up in frustration. "I'll make up a story if they ask anything! Ella just needs to go home and not be here."
Ella squeezed her way in between us and jumps up and down saying, "Where are we?"
I ignored her and rubbed my temples. This was just so confusing that I couldn't even process a thought. That freaking palace let a little girl slip through its gates! What kind of security system is that? I know: a useless one!
The sky roared again and the wind picked up more speed. This was what happened when my emotions were the worst. The next step was a possible twister forming and I didn't want that. Not to mention that fact that I wanted to keep my powers a secret from Noel, so obviously, I wasn't helping my case.
"Are you alright?" Noel asked while lightly rubbing my shoulder. "We should head back to Dean's place and then we can figure this all out."
I swat at him again, hoping that he would give me space. Thankfully he did, and my thoughts were able to generate better. Having questions hounded at me wasn't doing anyone any favours.
I continued to stay silent as I focused on what to do. If Noel would let me go home, I could easily take Ella away. The problem with that plan was that I probably would get caught dropping her off and would have to go the palace. Sure, I wanted to return home, but not right now. Not when the wedding was getting close and when Dexter was still pissed off at me.
I groaned again in frustration and continued to rub my temples. The wind was whipping harder and I saw flashes of dry lightening through my eyelids. This was not good.
Suddenly, I felt Noel's hand on my shoulder again. "Calm down, will you? We will figure this out. There is no need to cause a monsoon over this!"
I froze at his words. As far as I knew, Noel knew nothing about my powers, so how did he know I could cause storms if I wasn't relaxed? What a sneaky little snitch.
