Pregnancy Perks & Awkward Circumstances
KAT
Dean's face paled as he exchanged looks from me to his fiancée. I too was lost for words even though I knew this was just all a huge misunderstanding.
Robotically, Dean placed me in a wooden chair at the kitchen table and shifted awkwardly from foot to foot
"Aubrey... I... Uh...," He stuttered. He was making things worse and was acting like he did something scandalous. I wanted to face palm and yell at him just to set everything straight.
Aubrey rubbed her belly gently and then looked my way. She sent me a playful wink and mouthed 'watch this' before roughly clearing her throat to get Dean's attention from the floor.
I let out a sigh of relief and sat back in the kitchen chair, curious to see what this girl was going to do. Aubrey walked up to Dean as close as she could before her monstrous belly got in the way.
"Here I am, cleaning and cooking in your home while I'm sweaty, swollen, hungry and pregnant with half of your DNA and what are you doing? You waltz in here with not a drop of sweat on you while you are practically doing bench presses with your very nice and skinny mistress!" Aubrey accused while poking Dean hard in the chest.
Dean avoided eye contact with her and slouched his shoulders forward. "Honey, you've got it all wrong. Her name is Kat and-"
Aubrey placed a hand to her forehead and dramatically looked away. "Aw, look at that, you know her name. I suppose that you have a cute nickname with her too. What is it, 'kitty kat'?"
I instantly covered my mouth to muffle a laugh. All I needed was popcorn, and this whole scene would be picture perfect.
"You're reading this whole thing wrong babe..." Dean trailed off while caressing his fiancée's face with the back of his hand. Aubrey turned away from him and faced me with a sly smile. Man, she was cruel.
"You don't even love me anymore! I'm just a fat whale and some chick you knocked up out of pity!" She sobbed and waved her hands hysterically in the air.
Just as Aubrey was about to make a dramatic exit out of the room, Dean grabbed her wrist and spun her around. He pulled her close and kissed her stomach, making me intake a sharp breath to keep myself of 'awing'.
"I love you so much, Ray-ray. You are my world now and so is this baby. We're a family and nothing can change that," Dean confessed while pulling Aubrey closed in a tight hug.
Dean's back was to me while I could clearly see Aubrey's face. She sent me another wink before pulling out of Dean's embrace and stepping a good distance away.
"Prove it," she challenged, with her arms crossed over her chest. Dean glanced back at me out of the corner of his eye, but I turned away because I knew my facial expression would have given away the whole façade. My face was so red from keeping my laughter inside and I couldn't seem to keep a smile off my face.
"Anything you want, babe," Dean sighed while placing his large hands on her belly.
Aubrey looked down at him with a loving smile and delicately patted his head. "Can you go get me some apples? And get the ones that are across town, not from out back. I've been craving them all day and I've been just itching to have them."
Dean stood up straight and kissed Aubrey's forehead. "Of course, I'll be back in a jiff."
Without even sparing me a glance, Dean jogged out the door. It was actually hilarious seeing that Dean was so tightly wrapped around his fiancée's finger that he didn't even remember the reason why we came back to his house in the first place.
