Waiting & More Waiting
NORA
They were all laughing and eating. Kathleen passed a loaf of bread across the table and the savage gladly took it from her and then kissed her.
He actually kissed her. It liberally blew my mind.
There were other people around the table as well. A small child was being passed around like a ragdoll, but no one seemed to care. If anything, they just laughed at nothing as they ate and acted as if there was no other worry in the world.
I could think of a few, if they actually lived in a dump like this.
I shuffled in the bush and cringed. Here I was, standing in a bush and to them, this was normal? Clearly, they were savages.
One of the men behind me nodded slowly, asking if we should proceed. I turned to face him and smiled at his golden eyes. I was in control. Having the palace guards come with me for this dreaded journey was a good idea. I needed someone to get their hands dirty, and that someone wasn’t going to be me. It was bad enough that I actually had to stand in the place.
With the light of the moon, I could see my hair starting to grey at the ends. We didn’t have much time and if everything was going to work, we had to act fast. All I needed was for them all to go to sleep…
Tonight, the plan that I had started would begin again and this time, I wouldn’t fail. Last time, my plan failed when I took Kathleen’s will away, so now I had a new and improved idea. A flawless one.
Kathleen would stay here, in the dump. The savage would be taken with me into the night without her knowing.
It was simple enough. Dispose of the boy and Kat would come after him because she loved him.
I scoffed as I listened to the savage’s resting place go quiet. What did they know about love?
I turned to the men behind me and nodded. It was time to get home and restore order again.
“Time to clean up the mess,” I whispered.
