Percy POV
When my eyes finally opened, assisting in my coming to, a white light was the first thing I could see. Actually, it was all I could see. I hissed, my eyes squinting shut. My entire body ached at my reflexive movements, a reminder of the gunshot wounds in my legs. Bandages were wrapped across my legs, shining in a bright white, just like the walls, ceiling, and floor around me. My clothes were very different. I had on a pair of white pants and a thin, white t-shirt.

What was it about the color white?

I reached around for my sword. Riptide was gone. I didn't know how my trusty sword could disappear with its enchantments. I ended up searching everywhere for a ballpoint pen and checked every crevice in the pockets of my clothes. The one thing that gave me a sense of protection; stripped away.

It wasn't soon after my eyes adjusted when I realized where I was. In a dog cage. I'm not kidding. A freakin' dog cage made by Hades himself. It was so small I could barely lift my head without hitting metal frame, much less stretch my legs out comfortably. My ADHD wouldn't react well to this, being that tight spaces were one of the many things I hated. It only reminded me of how alone and powerless I was.

My thoughts then trailed to Annabeth. Was she dead? Was she alright? Did Athena hear my prayers? I pushed deep inside of me to see if I was experiencing any kind of sixth sense. It didn't feel like she was dead. No, she isn't dead. She can't be. The guilt crawled under my skin like a bug, unfazed by any of my reassurances. She could be dead and it would be all my fault.

Anger and frustration boiled up in my insides, so much so that I went into a frenzy. I kicked, pushed, and punched at the locked maze of metal tubes forming a side door of the cage. Even though my knuckles started bleeding, I didn't stop. I had to find Annabeth and escape this hellhole.

After several long minutes, I faltered, out of breath and aching all over. My legs started bleeding, blood flooding out of my bandages. The cage didn't have any damage done to it. Their wasn't even a dent.

I thought about my powers, sensing water not far from here. I willed my power source to come near, just like always. A sharp nausea erupted in my stomach, just like last time. There had to be something blocking my powers.

Or someone.

"I've already tried to escape," A tiny, small voice said to my left.

I glanced over, surprised to see a girl sitting in an identical cage right next to mine. I must've missed her for her small stature and size. If I guessed correctly, she seemed content I was awake. That didn't stop the questions from jumbling up in my mind. What did these people want from me? How were they able to block my powers, much less take away Riptide?

"What is this place?" I asked her, ignoring the pain emitting from my legs. I didn't know who she was or why she was here, but something made me trust her. The way she gazed at me held some sort of understanding.
