Percy POV
I burst into a sprint, dodging unaware people and battles that wouldn't cease if I came in the crossfire. Annabeth followed behind, shouting curses as she realized the risk of danger. My heart pounded harder; legs extending to extraordinary lengths.

What if Ari got to her? What if the battle was just a distraction intended for me. He needed leverage, and his sharp nose could easily lead him to the familiar scent of Angel.

I'm not saying that I'm an expert on Erasers, but Ari has hunted Angel and her friends for years. He has had practice picking them out from a crowd, or tracking their whereabouts.

And it made sense, targeting someone I cherished. He was proving to be a cunning Eraser, which I kept needing a reminder of. All of his other buddies were just plain stupid.

When we finally made it to the Apollo cabin, I couldn't help noticing just how bad it had gotten. The small building was looking older by the day, ever since the gods' untimely death. The color of the paint was fading, and falling off in dry shards. The wooden doors were full of splinters, with termites eating them from the inside out. I replayed his death in my head again, seeing the murderous face of Athena and a sobbing Raven. I swallowed down the sorrowful situation, reminded of the current situation.

I turned the weak knob and pushed the door open swiftly.

What I came across terrified me even more. The unconscious bodies of the Stolls, with weapons around their still forms. They had been taken by surprise, and their were signs of a struggle. A lamp and table was knocked over, shattered beyond repair. The sound had most likely been vibrant, but no one would've been able to make it out, much less see it as a sign of danger.

"There's blood," Annabeth stated, pointing at the floorboards.

She was right. A fresh, red smear that was barely noticeable. It was drying across the wooden surface, almost invisible to the naked eye.

"They couldn't have gone far," I said, trying to keep myself levelheaded. It was Annabeth's presence that gave me the power to do it. If she wasn't beside me in this moment, I don't know how I would react.

We shuffled to the small door that every cabin had in the back. After the Giant War, all of the houses were remodeled with this with Chiron's orders. It was only used for emergencies; which I believe this qualifies.

"More blood," Annabeth observed on the usually stainless steel doorknob. "It's like they want to be found."

My fears rose, and my heart sunk even further. "Ari wants leverage, and he figured Angel was the perfect target."

"How do you know it's Ari?" Annabeth questioned.

"Let's just say he has a personal vendetta against me," I said, sure that this was Ari's doing.

There was no evidence of another Eraser accompanying him. This was a personal attack against me, and the blood was thicker than human blood. I remembered seeing Angel's pinkish blood from weeks before, and it looked nothing like this. I found myself feeling satisfaction at the thought of Angel injuring Ari in some way.
