Percy POV
I was stunned by his words. My breath caught in my throat like I'd forgotten how to breathe. The gods had decided to be completely silent about everything, and now Zeus wanted custody of my daughter.

"No," I started. "He's not laying a hand on her."

Chiron knit his eyebrows, heeding my words. "The baby is a girl?"

The three of us nodded. We didn't understand why Chiron was so focused on that detail. Unless he was genuinely interested about Raven's child.

Chiron's face drooped, as if he were saddened by this.

"Zeus claimed to know about this child years before it came to be. He told me that a prophecy detailing the birth of a baby girl on the day of battle would be the undoing of all the gods."

Raven's face paled at his words.

"He's wrong," She said coldly, looking up to the sky. "You blithering fool!"

Thunder rumbled in the distance at her insult. Usually, I would be discouraging someone from disrespecting the gods. Except, it was taking all of my willpower not to do the same.

"Couldn't have said it better," I thought with disgust.

"I'm with Raven on this one. Zeus knows more then anything that a prophecy can't be fully interpreted," I said, recalling all of the times he wanted to kill me for being a possible destroyer of Olympus.

"He isn't asking, Percy," Chiron said, sternly. "This is Zeus, and he doesn't take refusal lightly."

"Things have changed around here," I said coolly. "Zeus is running scared and trying to find someone to blame for his dethroning. Even if it is an innocent."

From the sound of Raven's silence, I knew she was on the same page. In fact, her hands wrapped there way around her stomach protectively, the notion of Zeus bringing her distress.

Annabeth held Chiron's gaze studiously. Her eyebrows knit together in concentration, remembering the consequences of defying a god like Zeus. Being the absolute genius that she was, I could tell my girlfriend was looking at both sides of the spectrum; already coming up with a solution.

"He's given you all until dawn to respond," Chiron said, showing deep concern. "The god is angry, and mustn't be trifled with."

"Isn't he always?" I said bitterly. After fighting in two wars and saving the world twice, Zeus still couldn't leave me alone. What did it take?

Chiron stopped trotting, and I balked before getting too close to his backside.

The centaur had been leading us to the Big House, but now seemed to be abandoning his post.

"I'm afraid I can't have a hand in this decision any longer. If it is one against Zeus, my involvement can mean the destruction of Camp Half-Blood. Do what you know is right. Unfortunately, these countless wars are making me weary in my days. I'm putting my trust in you, little heroes."

We nodded, sensing the heavy burden Chiron was placing on our shoulders. Through thick and thin, the centaur had always been there for us. And I hoped that sometime soon I could return the favor.

With a sad sigh, the centaur left us. We silently watched him until he entered the Big House; out of sight.

A cloud went over the sun, providing bouts of shade that gave me a bit of relief from squinting so much. The festering heat caused sweat on my brow, and I wiped it away quickly.

"I don't understand," Raven started, worriedly. "How does Zeus know anything about this?"

"He must be getting information from someone," Annabeth decided. "It's no secret what happened to Raven, and Iris is still able to manage Iris-messages if Zeus sent word to camp."

"It's no longer safe for us," Raven said. "For me. I can't believe I let myself get used to this place."

The daughter of Apollo started toward her cabin, as if her decision was final.

"Raven, wait a minute," I called, trying to catch up with her. She might've been pregnant, but could still gain some good distance when she really wanted.

I grabbed onto Raven's shoulder, stopping in front of her before she could go any farther. Annabeth had caught up as well, but chose to get by Raven's side.

"You can't just leave," I said, trying to reason with her. "This is the safest place to be!"

Annabeth shook her head, so much so that a couple of her curls swayed. "Percy, Raven's right. You two are sitting ducks for Tartarus and Zeus in this place, and there's no telling how many campers are acting as spies."

My temperament rose as frustration set in. I could feel my forehead becoming foggy, a familiar sensation that occurred before using my telekinesis. Realizing where I was headed, I immediately tried to calm myself down. One breath in, one breath out. One breath in-

"Percy, you're shaking," Annabeth observed, showing a glint of concern in her eyes.

Like always, she was right. I had turned my heads into fist without any recollection of doing so, and my arms were trembling.

"I'm fine," I replied firmly.

Obviously, this was a lie. There were a million things I would rather be doing right now, and it didn't include being caught in the middle between two mega powerful gods. If I'm being completely honest, I actually wanted to leave the two girls and fly in any direction. Anywhere but here.

The two women were looking at me expectantly. I snapped out of my trance, trying to find a way to bring the attention off of me. "So, what's the plan?"

I turned to Annabeth, who had her brain working on overdrive.

"Percy, how long has it been since you spoke to your mother?" Annabeth wondered.

The question sounded like an accusation. How long had it been?

"A couple of weeks," I said guiltily. I liked to try and keep in touch with my mother using Iris Messages, but things always seemed to get in the way before I could. "Why?"

"Because we're going to pay her a visit."

It's a short chapter, but I wanted to practice dialogue between characters and making decisions, even if it is boring. But, you have to read this chapter to understand the next. So consider this a part 1 (I guess)
