Percy POV
"Mom, go downstairs!" I shouted. "Join the others!"

My mother shook her head. "I'm not leaving you."

The Fury reared it's head back, lurching at me with its teeth. I ducked, slashing Riptide at its exposed neck.

The blade hit skin, creating a bloody cut. The monster wailed in pain, giving both of us an opportunity to run to the door.

I pushed Sally into the hallway, comfortable that she was temporarily out of harm's way. Turning my back on the fury had put me in a vulnerable place, however. I saw snarling teeth and attacking claws in my peripheral. Upon reflex, I lifted Riptide.

Clang!

The blow knocked me back, creating a massive hole in the wall.

"Percy!" My mother cried, a spectator of the scene.

The fury shrieked, lunging towards me again. I raised my left hand quickly, willing the monster to stop with my telekinesis. This was the first time using my newfound power in a fight, ever since deciding I needed to learn control over it.

Inevitably, the monster stopped in midair. I opened my eyes upon realizing it had worked, experiencing the weight it had on my mind. The fury struggled under my weakening will, on the verge of breaking free.

I let go and the monster's momentum carried. I dodged it's feathery wings as its head struck the railing.

Gripping Riptide, I cut through the creature's neck while it was still stunned, turning it to ashes.

Breathing heavily, I took my mother downstairs hastily. She seemed more concerned about the gash on my forehead rather than her imminent danger.

The sound of snarls and growls filled my ears. Raven and Annabeth were battling two other furies, while Paul tried distracting them by shooting a pellet gun.

I didn't even want to ask why he had that.

"Mom, stay here," I said, leaving her behind the couch despite slight protestations.

I quickly ran over to Raven, who seemed to be struggling the most. It had to be much harder for her to fight when it took an effort just to stay standing.

"The baby is mine!" The fury hissed, lashing out upon noticing my presence.

I dodged its attacks, diverting the thing's attention away from Raven.

"Come on, Hades bitch! You can do better than that," I mocked bitterly.

The old hag who I knew dwelled inside of the creature seemed to surface, showing offense to my words.

"Give us the baby, ignorant demigod. We know you're aligned to the gods," It screeched, spreading it's putrid breath for all of us to endure.

I looked in the corner of my eye, making sure that Annabeth could hold her own. She had out her trusty dagger from Tartarus and used it to stab the fury in the eye. Paul ran another shot off with his gun, hitting its mark between the creature's eyes.
