Percy POV
I glanced at Raven, who was pale in the face. She clutched her stomach, hugging her knees with a grimace.

Turns out, Angel's news rang true; a group of unfamiliar kids was walking behind a particular blond, Max. I could make out their figures as they passed through the camp's borders with ease. Angel caught Max's gaze and the group started toward our direction.

"Gee, I'm so glad she's back," I said sarcastically, feeling a consistent throb throughout my body.

The small blonde beside me gave a small smile, knowing my true feelings for Maximum.

"Maybe one day, you two might become friends," Angel said hopefully. She wasn't looking at me, though. Her eyes were on Raven, laced with confusion.

"I highly doubt that," I told her, picking myself up as the group of children neared. My arms were caked in dried blood from the explosion, and I could tell my face was covered in dirt. My shorts were even torn at the bottom like I had a fight with a bear.

"You look terrible, by the way," Angel said, in all seriousness. "You have a gash on your forehead, right there." She pointed to my right temple, making sure not to touch it. As if noticing something else, her eyes widened and she turned me around forcefully. "Percy, what happened to you? Your back and wings burned!"

I shook my head. "I'm fine. There was an explosion-"

Angel poked one of the wounds, causing me to gasp in pain.

"Ow! What was that for?" I cried.

"For being a stubborn derp," She replied. "You're not fine!"

"Maybe not," I responded curtly, now noticed by Max, who gave me a slight nod in greeting. "But we have other things to worry about."

The kids behind Max stopped just as she did, a few feet away now. I forced a smile at them, just for Angel's sake. They seemed uneasy like they'd never seen a stranger smile at them before.

"Max, when are we going to eat? I'm starving," One of the boys said, eyeing me with suspicion.

"Gazzy, I already told you to stop asking," Max scowled, giving the boy a death stare.

There was an awkward silence, as all of the kids stared at me. Their faces were a bit gaunt, showing proof of malnourishment. I looked down at my hands, noticing the blood caking my knuckles and the soreness of my back. It only reminded me of Raven, and how unimportant this was at the moment.

"Angel, show them to the dining hall. There might be leftover food," I said softly.

Angel looked surprised. "What about the explosion?"

"It's taken care of," I reassured her. "Just watch out for debris."

I didn't have time to maintain an introduction. For now, getting them occupied seemed to be the best course of action.
