Ever really wish you had an awesome soundtrack to read to, write to, or just jam out with and feel like you're in the same head-space as the characters? Yeah, me too. I've been using music and lyrics for years to help me picture the worlds that I create. Certain phrases, certain artists, and even certain melodies resonate with different characters and plots. For me, it's about the psychology of it. I decided to add the lyrics to each chapter to give you an idea of the symbolism/metaphor/tone of each chapter in their headers. And I'll also explain that on my personal favorites below.

Confession: I am a music hound. My taste ranges so far and wide that most people don't even understand my Spotify or Apple libraries. (I blame working in the radio industry during college.) If you happen to find yourself reading one of my books and a song comes to mind, tell me! Either comment on the chapter, PM me, or leave it here for me to add to my list! Your song might just be my next big inspiration. I'll even give you the credit for said inspiration.

            KOL: my obsession for two years straight after seeing them live during the Only By The Night tour. The mix of vocals and melodies always really got to me creatively.             If you've never listened to this band before, I highly recommend! I found them randomly by going to a concert in college when they opened for Relient K and Copeland. I met them after the show and later ended up buying all of their albums. (Brian, I'm still in love with your voice!) Absolutes remains one of my favorite albums to this day. "Why don't you stay with me? / I think you can save this beast. / But I'll leave you with an empty room. / Honey, that's what takers do. / I'm a thief and I'll take you..."

"Young Blood" - The Naked & Famous
            Not only is the idea of the phrase young blood attached to a rookie, but also the idea that compared to the rest of her family, Serenity is very young. Yeah, she's twenty-four, but her grandparents are around 400 years old. And she is a rookie when it comes to being in the wolf world. Learning how to control something and run with the big dogs, so to speak, is new territory for her. "Can't help myself but count the flaws. / Claw my way out through these walls. / One temporary escape, / feel it start to permeate... The bittersweet between my teeth, / trying to find the in-betweens, / fall back in love eventually."
