It was easily the male counterpart to mine: dark grey wood paneled halfway up the walls that were painted to match. It was a sitting room with two navy-blue suede couches, a tapestry rug beneath them, and centered with a coffee table. There were lamps on the end tables. I noticed a half-eaten croissant with jelly on a tea plate, a cold cup of coffee beside it. There were full bookshelves that framed the arched windows. A desk and a stack of books sat in the far right corner, a map of the pack house grounds above it.
It was a room that had been lived in for awhile, and I saw there was a huge, circular chair in the left-hand corner, angled to look out the window. An open book sat on its cushion with a discarded knit blanket. The wooden frame of the chair looked like it had been used often.
Jason smiled at me and led me towards the door off to the left. I let go of his hand and stood in its frame, staring at the huge king-sized bed on its raised platform. Two more doors lay off to its right, one I assumed leading into the bathroom. The other was the adjoining door to my room. The bed was adorned with a white fur skin across the foot of it, contrasting nicely with the blue and dusty purple comforter.
"What's wrong?" he asked, turning to look at me as he dropped his tux jacket on a chair.
"I've never been in your room before," I answered him slowly, my eyes still taking it all in. "I kind of half-expected there to be naked women and smoking jackets. Not...books and stale coffee," I added, smiling.
"Does it disappoint?"
I shook my head as I approached him. "No, not in the least," I said.
He grinned and touched my cheek again. "If I'd had my way, we wouldn't have had separate rooms at all."
"But that's not proper for an unwed couple," I scolded mockingly, my eyes closing when his thumb stroked my temple. "What would the elders say?"
Jason chuckled and leaned down to kiss my neck once, teasing me. "Oh no, not the shame of the elders," he answered, matching my sarcasm. "To hell with any of them. You are my mate and I love you."
I sighed, my eyes opening again. "And I love you."
He stared at me for another moment, taking in my face and softened expression. I didn't want to go to sleep any time soon and I wanted to soak up the little bit of private quiet we had at last. Jason exhaled slowly, running his fingers over my neck, his thumb caressing my chin and barely touching my bottom lip. My eyes closed involuntarily when it traveled up my cheekbone. I had missed him so much.
"I missed you, too," he answered me. I barely inhaled before his mouth was on mine in another kiss. I could feel his longing, his need to touch me.
I grasped his shirt in my hands again, leaning into him for the support of his body heat and the relief of him. When the kisses grew more intense, I whimpered and he pulled me into him as his hands ran down my back slowly, brushing over my bottom before tracing up my sides.
Jason's arms encircled my waist as he pulled me against him. His fingers were gentle and light, but I could still feel them through the material of my dress. I made another soft sound again and kissed him harder. He sighed heavily and began kissing my neck. My head dropped back as I went still and let him take over.
I'm sorry that he said those things to you, he admitted, his mental voice quiet and husky. I don't want you to be afraid. Not after what's happened already.
"I know," I breathed out loud, unsure if I could focus enough to say it silently. I gasped quietly when his mouth found the sensitive dip between my throat and shoulder. My whole body was alive with sensation. Just the feeling of his hands and lips was enough to make me dizzy with desire.
