Revelation

As I went down on a Saturday morning I saw mom talking to someone at the phone, I can hear their conversation, but not that clearly.

“How are you feeling?” Mom said.

“We’ll be visiting you very soon, don’t worry.” And mom hangs up the phone and I went down.

“You’re up early dear.” She said as she approaches me. “Is there something that I can help you with?”

“Nothing mom, I’m just going to have my breakfast.”

“Oh, right.” She said as she went in the kitchen. “By the way Abby called a while ago, she said that she’ll be here later with a friend.”

“A friend? Did she say anything about this friend?”

“She didn’t say any.” She said and pours water in my cup. As I watch how the water fall from the glass I can’t help to assume that, the friend that Abby was talking about is Nathan.

As I washed up and fixed myself up, the doorbell rang. Mom opened it and there I was standing at our stairs looking at Nathan.

“Come on in, Sam’s just upstairs.” Mom said,

“We’ll just wait her for her.” As Abby said.

“Hey!” I went down and look at them.

“Hey! I brought Nathan with me.” She said as she pulls Nathan.

“Hello.” He said as he lower his head.

“Hello, by the way, what are you doing here?”

“Nothing, I just want to hang out.” Abby said as she sat on the couch.

“Why at our place?” I said as I stand in front of her.

“You might make another excuses id I said we’ll go to Nathan’s place” she said as she laughs at my face.

“That’s not funny.” I said and look at her with a straight face.

“Oh come on! I know you!” She said as she winks. “I’ll get some drinks.” Abby said and run straight to the kitchen with my mom.

I was there standing across Nathan’s sight. I tried to talk to him, but think I just lose my voice, but finally he spokes up.

“Nice place you got here.” He said as he smiles at me.

“Thank you.” I said, but I can’t look at him in the eyes. “Take a sit.”

“It’s weird.” He said as he took a seat.

“Weird? Why?” I said.

“This place just feels so familiar.” He said as he looks around.

“So….” I said when my voice suddenly cracked up.

“So?” he asked.

“So, why did you move here in Oklahoma?”

“I don’t know either, my Grandma just wanted to, so I came along with her.” Nathan said,

“By the way, about last time in class. It’s not my intention to lie to both of you.” I said as I bow down my head. ”It’s just.”

“What” he asked.

“Oh! Wait where’s Abby?”

“She’s in the kitchen remember?” he said.

“Oh right.” I said, “As I was saying, it’s just. I just feel uncomfortable going to somebody’s place, even if we’re not that close.”

“Oh! That’s why.” He said and smile.

“Don’t worry; I’m not mad at you.”

“Thanks for understanding.” I said and smile at him

“That’s alright.” He said and smile back at me.

“Here’s you juice!” Abby suddenly went out shouting.

“Here you go.” Abby said as she gives us our glass.

“Thanks.” I said as I grab mine.

“Thanks Abby.”

“So, what are you talking about earlier?” she asked and I looked at Nathan and he smiled at me.

“Nothing much Abby. I just asked Nathan his reason for moving in here.” I said.

“So what’s the reason?” She asked.

“My Grandma, she wanted to move here. So I tag along.”

“I really wanna meet you Grandma.” Abby said.

“You’ll meet her someday, right Sam?” He said and Abby and him laugh at me.

“What’s funny?” I said,

“Nothing Sam, nothing” As Abby said as she covers her mouth. “So.”

“What’s that Abby?” I asked her as I put my juices down on the table.

“I just wanna ask Nathan something.” Abby said as her face went serious.

“What is it Abby?” Nathan said.

“I know I’m not in the right position to asked you this, but I’m still gonna asked you.” Abby said as she glanced on Nathan.

“So, what is it?” Nathan asked.

As I can feel the tension on the air, I finally jump in the conversation.

“What is it Abby? Don’t tell me…” I said as I make a weird smile on my face.

“Sam! Stop it!” She said as she’s trying to reach my hand. “I’m just curious... If you, Nathan, have any... you know…a girl that you like.” As she said.

“To tell you the truth, I have my eyes on someone. He said and smile at Abby.

“I’ll tell you next time Abby.” He said as he put a smile on his face.

As time pass by, I get the hang of being with Nathan, he’s so sweet and funny. As they went home, Nathan told me something, “See you tomorrow.” And then they went off.

I went up on my room and lie down. Trying to get some sleep, but I couldn’t, I went on my desk and grab the journal and read it.

March 20 1956

Bianca’s still in the Hospital, I’m starting get worried about her, but she wouldn’t say anything about her illness. Gale and I often visit her and stayed with her in the hospital. We usually just play and talk to one another. There’s a moment when I saw Bianca coughing and I saw a blood in her hand. She immediately wipes it off and pretends nothing happened. I told Gale about it. As we went off I tried to ask Bianca about her illness, but she wouldn’t tell us, even the nurses, I barely see his father so I can ask him. Her mom’s too busy fixing stuffs, and feeding her medicine.

Maybe Bianca doesn’t want us to know about it. I know she’ll tell it to us when she’d ready. Gale and I went home together, and we chatted about Bianca, and we had the same idea, about Bianca not telling us about it. We’ll just wait until she’ll tell us.
