On your side

As soon as he drops his hands from my eyes, I open my eyes and I was moved to what I saw at that very moment. I don’t know what I should feel, or what I should do, but the last thing I can think of is to say thanks to Nathan.

“Thanks.” I said as I turn around to him.

“It’s nothing.”  He said and turned me around. “Why don’t you try it out?”

“OK.” I said as I went closer to the tree where I fell, where Nathan built a ladder for me. I slowly take my steps and climb up the tree. Nathan Held my hand in case something might happen, but thank God nothing did.

“Come on up.” I said as I look down on Nathan. He looks straight into my eyes and gives me a smile. He climbed up and sat there beside me.  “Thanks Nathan.”

“I said it’s OK.  I want you to forget the bad things that happened here and remember this moment with me.” I caught myself staring at his eyes and unable to move, not even an inch. “You know what?”

“What?” I said as I hear my voice trembling.

“Remember the day that I went in your house with Abby?”

“Yes.”

“Remember what she asked me?” he said as he stares at the deep blue sky. “The part when she asked me if there’s someone that I like. Do you still remember that?”

“Y..Yes. So, what about that?” I said as I feel so uneasy.

“To tell you the truth…” He said when suddenly I heard a voice calling out my name.

“Sam! Sam!”

“Wait Nathan, do you hear that?” I said as I search for the voice.

“What is it?” he asked.

“Someone’s calling out my name. Can you we go down now?” I asked him.

“OK.” He said. Nathan climbed down the tree and I followed him immediately.

“I swear I heard someone calling out my name.” I said as I try to turn my head back and forth.

“I didn’t hear anyone Sam.” he said as he went beside me.

“But I really heard someone.” I said as I walk back at the tree.

“Sam, I think you need to rest. You better go home now.” He said as he held my shoulder.

“I think so too.” I said. “By the way, what are you going to tell me just a while ago?”

“Oh! Nothing, just forget it, maybe just some other time.” He said and gives me a smile, “Come on, I’ll walk you home.”

As Nathan and I were walking down the neighborhood I can’t help to think about the voice that I heard earlier. The voice isn’t familiar to me and I can’t recognize who it was. Out of nowhere I said something to Nathan that I didn’t expect myself, “I don’t know what I will do if you’re not here by my side.”  I went silent for a moment when Nathan said something,

“I don’t know what I am now in this town, if I never met you and Abby.” He said.

“Lucky you, Abby’s the one who approached you.” I said as I laugh.

“Yeah, Lucky.” He said and we continued to walk down the neighborhood and finally we reached our house.

“See you on school.” Nathan said as he wave at me.

“Yah, See you.” I said as I waved back and went inside. As soon as I closed the door, I lean down on the couch and stares at the floor. What makes me said those words to him? What got into me? I finally got the snapped out of it and went in my room. I lied down on my bed, and the moment that Nathan and I was sitting on the tree keeps on flashing back at me. I tried to remember what he was trying to say but I couldn’t get a hint about it. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

June 27 1956

Through the weeks with only Gale by my side made me stronger, I don’t cry all night now, I just smile on the pass memories that Bianca and I had and thank God that all of those good memories happened.

A while ago I was with Gale; we went out to visit Bianca’s grave and stays there for hours. Gale fell asleep that afternoon on the blanket that we’ve brought and I caught myself staring at him while he was sleeping. I’m pretty confused what I’m feeling for Gale now, is this love? Or maybe these feelings just bloom because he’s the only person that I’m always with. I don’t want to think about these kind of right things now, I just want to think about the things that I want.

Bianca I miss you a lot, I don’t know where I should go now whenever I’m sad, whenever I’m confused or whenever I felt these things. Bianca if only I can turn back time, I’ll turn it back when you’re still by my side.

As soon as I woke up from my sleep I felt like reading the journal and I felt something. It’s like Mary and I are connected to each other in many ways.

I prepared for school today; I washed up, ate my breakfast and went to the corner where Nathan and I usually meet. I noticed that Nathan is running late for today, he usually come before I do, but today he’s late and I’ll be late if I’ll wait for him to come. I walked alone to school today and went to our room, but then Nathan isn’t there, there’s no sight of Nathan in the room, I asked our classmates but they said that he’d not in yet. I took my seat and the class started. Nathan didn’t come in class today. As the classes ended I decided to go to their house, but then I remembered I don’t know where their house is located, so I just went home and call him through the phone.

“Hello?”

“Hello. Who is it?” an unfamiliar voice answered the phone; I guess it’s his grandma.

“It’s Sam, Nathan’s friend.” I said.

“Oh! Sam, what made you call?”

“I’m just wondering why Nathan didn’t went to school today?” I said.

“He didn’t? I saw him this morning with his bag and went out.” She said, as I can hear her voice starting to worry.

“He did? But I didn’t saw him all day in school.” I said and I started to worry too.

“Oh dear.”

“Can I know where’s your place is located?” I asked and grabbed a pen and paper.

“Ok, dear.” She said, as soon as he gave me their address I went off and went to their house.

As I reached their front porch, I felt something weird.
