When Unexpected Things Happens

“Who’s this?” I said.

“It’s me Nathan. You’ve forgot all about me already?” I was in the state of shock at that moment and I can’t move an inch.

“Hey.” Nathan said, and then it hit me I wasn’t dreaming. It really is Nathan.

“Hey, How’d you been?” I said as I try to find my voice back,

“I’m fine, sorry for not telling you about…”

“It’s ok, I understand.” I said as I cut him off.

“Are you sure? Aren’t you mad at me?” I went silent for a moment and the thought crosses my mind, am I mad at him? Am I mad for what he did; he left me alone without saying any word? Am I?

“Nope, I’m not don’t worry. So when will you come back here?” I asked him to change the topic.

“I don’t know yet, Grandma’s not feeling well.” He said, as I heard someone from the background.

“Nathan, who are you talking to?” a voice of a lady crosses the line.

“It’s Sam mom, the girl that I told you about.” He said to his mom. Then a silence went by.

“Hey, sorry about that, that was my mom.”

“It’s ok.” I said, “Nathan.”

“Yes?” he said,

“Can you come back here after Christmas break?” I said, what did I just said? What the?

“I will, don’t worry I’ll just wait for my Grandma to recover and we’ll be back.”

“That’s sounds great, can’t wait to see you again buddy.” I said as I breath.

“Me too, by the way, Merry Christmas Sam.”

“Merry Christmas too Nathan.”

“Sam, who’s on the phone?” mom said, as she walk next to me.

“It’s Nathan.” I said as I turn my head to her.

“Merry Christmas Nathan.” Mom said as she went closer to the mouth piece.

“Merry Christmas too Aunt. Dianne” Nathan said from the other line. “I think I better go now Sam. they’re waiting for me.”

“Ok, see you soon Nathan.” I said,

“See you soon Sam, I miss you.” A froze for a moment and said, “Miss you too.” Then the line went out. I froze there for a moment when suddenly dad tapped me, “Everything’s alright sweetie?”

“Y..yes.” I said, “What time we’ll we leave later?”

“Maybe 8 in the evening.” Dad said and he went off to the kitchen where my mom was cooking the food we’ll eat later at Grandpa’s house for Christmas Eve.

I went up to my room, check my things if I hadn’t forgotten anything. I lay down on my bed, thinking about the conversation I had with Nathan earlier. I miss you.

November 1 1956

My heart just died, I didn’t expect that to happen, Gale has a girlfriend and her name was Zoe. I don’t know why I’m feeling this way; I don’t know I just want to cry. By the time Josh and I were going to the gym, I saw Gale kissing Zoe. I almost dropped the cookies I was holding; luckily Josh was there to catch it. I stare at them for a moment and I can tell Gale is pretty happy with her; he had a smile that he never showed me. I give the cookies to Josh and went off. I don’t know what happen next, I don’t know what Josh did to the cookies, maybe he ate it out for himself, but who cares? I think Gale doesn’t need me anymore. I just hate it. Gale didn’t mention anything to me, he didn’t tell me about him dating a girl, I know it will hurt me but this is much worse.
