Secrets

As soon as the rain stops, Nathan and I went to their house. We were dripping wet when we arrive so Nathan let me borrow his shirt and let me wash up. As I fix myself and went down.  There I found him boiling some water and her grandma sitting on her rocking chair.

“Good afternoon ma’am.” I said, and I remember I never knew his grandma’s name.

“Hello there sweetie, why don’t you just call me…” she said, as she closed the book she’s reading and turn her head to me.

“Hey!” Nathan suddenly came in.

“Hey.” I said as I turn my head to him.

“Wanna have some hot drinks?” he asked me as he held the cup to me. I grab it and turn to his grandma.

“Hey Nana, what about you?” he asked.

“No thanks sweetie, I’m full.” She said as she smiles at him. I lean towards Nathan and whispered to him something,

“Hey! You never told me your grandma’s name.” I said,

“Oh!” he said as he turn his head to me and give me a surprised face. “Sorry, her name is Bianca.”

“Oh.” I said, I thought somewhere deep inside my mind that she’s Mary but she isn’t.

“Wanna eat something?” he asked me.

“Sure.” I said, still preoccupied. I can feel something weird. “Hey where did your grandma, got her scar from her head?” I asked Nathan as we walked towards their kitchen.

“Ah that she got it when she had an accident. That’s what mom and dad told me.” He said as he open their refrigerator.

“What accident?” I asked as I sip through the hot chocolate that Nathan gave me.

“She had a car accident.” He said in the other side of the ref.

“When?” I asked.

“Mom told me that grandpa was driving when they hit a truck, and the only one who survives the accident was grandma.” He said as he closed the ref. door. “Here” He said and handed me a sandwich.

“Wanna go upstairs?” he asked.

“Ok, but what about your grandma?” I asked him as I looked at her and she’s reading her book.

“She’ll be fine here, she’ll just read her book.” He said, “Come on.”

We stay at their balcony where we sat on a bench facing the sky.

“So tell me more about your grandma.” I said to him as I took a bite on my sandwich.

“Hmm. All I can remember is she had an amnesia and mom and my aunt. Is the only one who guided her and tell her all about the things that had happened.” He said,

“I didn’t know that your grandma had a pretty complicated life.” I said and I rest my head on his shoulder and tucked my knees up on my chest.

“I know and all I can do now is to be by her side and be with her, that’s why I came here.” He said,

“So, the reason why she’s here is to recover some of her memories?” I asked him.

“That’s what she said to me.” Nathan said,

“I don’t want to lose my memories, I don’t want to forget the people I once loved and I don’t want to forget the things they let me feel.” I said as I lean closer to Nathan.
