Looking Forward

As I went home after school, I told everything to mom, about Abby, and the talk that Mr. Patterson and I have.

“Sweetie, don’t be sad, we’ll visit Abby from time to time, ok?”

“I just can’t believe that we’ll be apart.” I said as I went closer to mom.

“Sam, you need to know that nothing’s permanent in life. We need o adjust from time to time and we need to look forward in our everyday life.” Mom said as she wraps her arms around me.

“Mom…I just.”

“That’s enough for today sweetie, why don’t you rest in your room and I’ll bring some snacks for you. Is that alright?”

“Ok. Mom.” I said as I went up and change my clothes. Mom left the snacks on my table ad left. I was there sitting on my chair starring out at the sky and thinking about nothing.

I open the journal and read it through the night.

June 10 1956

School just started again but this time it’s different. Bianca’s gone Gale and I are always together now. We go o school together, eat lunch together and went home together. These are the things that Bianca and I use to do.

One afternoon, while I was waiting for Gale to finish hid papers for his transferee in our school, Bianca’s dad went out off his office and approached me. We talk outside his office and I can still remember that he asked me things about Bianca. Suddenly I notice that I rarely see his dad home, whenever I’m at their place, I never got the sight of his dad. I guess they’re not that close or something, maybe his just busy. I told him every single detail about Bianca, when suddenly he said, “I wish I knew that things too.” I stop for a moment and went close to him and said, “It’s alright, Bianca really loves you a lot.” I saw his tear fell but he wipes it right away and he left.

Gale went out of the office and we went home together. While Gale and I was walking at our street, Gale stop for a moment and held my hand. I can remember he said, “She’ll be sad if she sees you like this.” Then he went closer to me and wrap around his arms on me. “Don’t be sad Mary, Bianca’s in a place where she can live her life to the fullest.”

I’m too surprised for what Gale did; tears just flow in my eyes while Gale’s arms are around me.

                                                                                                                                                                                                Mary

Will Nathan do that to me too? Like Gale did to Mary? Abby’s right, I got Nathan, I got a new friend.

I went to sleep that night with tears on my eyes and a puzzled mind.

The next morning as I woke up and went to school with Abby. Nathan suddenly shows up at the corner on our street.

“Morning!” Nathan said as he smiles at me.

“Morning Nathan.” Abby said,

“Morning, what are you doing here?” I asked.

“I’m going to school.” Nathan said,

“Ohh…is that…” I said when Abby interrupts.

“Yeah, He’s going to school, but I’m the one who told him that he should start taking this way to school.” Abby said.

“But, why?” I asked.

“So you wouldn’t be alone, when I’m gone.” Abby said and put a smile on her face.

“You don’t need to do this.” I said.

“It’s ok Sam.” Nathan said.

“No, it’s not!” I said.

“Sam! What’s wrong?” Abby said as she held my hand.

“Everything! Everything’s wrong.” I shouted and close my eyes and took a deep breath.

“Sam.” as Abby said and slowly I can feel her arms wrap around me.

“Sam… Nothing’s wrong.” Then she paused for a while, “Nothing’s wrong, Everything’s is in its rightful place.”

“Abby, please...”

“Sam, I can’t do anything now.”

“Abby..”
