Chapter Nine

-Kayla's Pov-
The next morning I woke up like always. With Alec's arms around me and me laying on his chest. I removed his arms slipping out of bed. I went to the bathroom and brushed my hair and teeth.

I walked over to Alec's side of the bed where he was still asleep. I sat on the edge of the bed where there was some space. I leant over placing a kiss on his cheek. I then shook him awake. He slowly woke up.

"Come on Alec we have to get up" I say to the guy groaning because he has to get up. Eventually he gets up and goes to the bathroom. When he gets back he changes into a black shirt and some jeans.

"Lets go check on Jace, make sure he's doing okay" I say and he nods his head agreeing. He pulls me to him placing a kiss on my forehead.

We then leave the room going to Jace's. when opening the door and looking around we seen he wasn't there. So we decided to check Clary's room,
since that's probably where he would be at. When we got there we heard them talking about something.

"He said your mother for that cup" Clary says

"Who said that" Alec asks

"Valentine" both Clary and Jace says

"He's with my mother" Clary says

"And he can speak to you through that necklace. Here in the institute?" I ask

"It's like when I saw Dot"

"It's a portal shard that's why your mother made sure you had it" Jace says looking at the necklace

"All I know is what I saw...My mother's alive. She's unconscious, but alive."  She says

"Where are they?" Alec asks

"I don't know"  Clary says

"But you said you saw them. Were there any identifying characteristics? Equipment, weapons, photographs?" Alec says asking Clary a bunch of questions.

"I don't remember it was it was awful" Clary says over whelmed.

"Alec lighten up" Jace says

"I'm trying to get something we can use out of this. Clary, what did you see, exactly?" He ask

"Valentine has my mother that's what I saw" Clary says freaking out.

"Emotions are nothing but a distraction. You're ruled by them. We're taught to control them" Alec says

"And how is that working out for ya" she also

"Alec" I says trying to get him to stop. Clary doesn't need this right now.

"It is my job to protect the Institute. If Valentine can see in, that's a door I have to shut. Now... let me take a look at that thing"  he says and Jace hands him the necklace.

"Now, it's in the proper hands" Alec says walking away

"Hey" Clary says and we follow him.

"Alec where are you going" Clary asks him as we are walking through the main part of the institute walking down some stairs.

"To put this somewhere safe. Where no one could be tempted to use it" he responds to her and she scoffs.

"We should use it. Alec, we should use it to get to Valentine." Jace says
