Chapter Twenty

Kayla's Pov
The next morning I woke up to a empty bed. Alec is probably already up and trying to help with the warlock info for Clary. I pull the covers back getting out of bed.

I go to the bathroom where I brush my teeth. Once I'm done with that I brush my hair just letting it down natural. I strip out of my clothes and change into another pair of leggings with a over sized sweater. I pull on a pair of combat boots.

I grab my phone and my stele putting them in my boots. I go to the main part of the institute. I go to a screen and check the info on the warlocks Izzy has picked out that is stronger than Magnus who could've possibly done that to Jocelyn.

"Bring the flowers out to the wedding tent. Put the lilies up on the dais, and lay the rose petals at the entrance." I hear Izzy say and turn to see her directing them to where they need to be. Me and Alec agreed on letting Izzy plan the wedding decorations since she really wanted to plus we knew she would be wonderful at it.

"Isabelle, which color do you like better? It's for the curtains adorning the wedding tent." A women asks her as she is coming down the stairs, holding two colors of curtains.

"Hmm. The cobalt blue. It's elegant, masculine... very Alec." Izzy says

"I'll put the cobalt blue out right away." The women replies

"How are we supposed to get any work done with all this going on?" Jace says coming into view

"We haven't had a wedding here in years. People are allowed to be excited." Izzy says

"We need to focus." Jace says

"Wow thanks big brother for being excited for me" I say with sarcasm

"Have you narrowed down the list of warlocks more powerful than Magnus Bane?" Jace asks ignoring me

"She's got it down to 20." I say pulling all the pictures up on the screen.

"But it's gonna be hard to figure out which one cast that spell on Jocelyn." Izzy says

"I don't care how tough it is, we've gotta find him. Back at Renwick's, I let Valentine go. I won't make that mistake again. We gotta wake up Jocelyn, in case she heard anything about his plan." Jace says

"Have you spoken to Alec?" Izzy asks

"He's probably busy, what with wedding plans and all. And I don't need to talk to anyone. Let's just stick to the mission, okay?" Jace says walking away

"Hey you know isn't not anything you did. Jace is proud of his sister" Izzy says putting a hand on my shoulder

"Yeah I know. He's just stressed and going through a lot right now and beating himself up." I say

"Alec told me about Valentine being your father, how you holding up" she asks me

"Honestly I don't know" I say

Me and Izzy decided to go back to my room so she can feel me in with all the wedding decorations. When we get there we sit on the bed and she starts filling me in. After that we talk about how I want my makeup and hair so Izzy can know how to do it for the wedding tomorrow. In the middle of us just talking about random things I get a text. It's from Hodge saying we need to talk on the warlock situation.
