Chapter Seventeen

Kayla's Pov
Me and Jace head to the spot where the safe is. Jace kneels down beside it while I keep look out.

Soon Alec's stele is placed in Jace's hand. He quickly use it and traces the rune and the safe comes open. He grabs the necklace and grabs the card that has the cup in it. Jace quickly traces over the rune again and it closes. He takes his phone out texting Magnus that he's done and Magnus portals it back.

We go get Izzy and then go back to where we were. We grab a bag and some weapons. We put a couple of glades on us and Izzy makes sure she has her whip. And we take a couple of more stuff putting it in the bag.

"You might wanna pick up the pace." Jace said to Izzy

"You do not wanna be on my bad side right now." Izzy says

"Are you gonna be okay?" I ask my parabati

"The whole world is turning upside down. Simon turned into a vampire. Now Meliorn might die because of some... " she says going on a rant but Jace cuts her off

"It's not anything you did. They just put a bunch of unrelated facts together, and came up with a big lie" Jace says to her

"I wish that made me feel better" she says and we turn to leave but we are stopped by Hodge.

"Where do you think you're going? It's a very dangerous time, and no one is supposed to leave the premises without express orders." He says to us

"Hodge, we were just about to... " I began but he cuts me off

"Lie to me?" He says

"Clary needs us, Hodge. The Clave is looking for her. She could be in serious danger."

"Well, in that case, I'd make a timely exit before anyone of importance notices you're gone." He says and we turn to leave to go get Clary.

"We won't forget this" Jace says to him

It didn't take us long to get to where Clary was. She was at the Hotel DuMort with Simon and Luke. We go to the back of the building and that's where Luke is. The door opens and Clary and Simon come out.
Clary runs to Jace and hugs him with him hugging her back. Simon walks over to Luke and Luke pats him on the back.

"Thank God you're okay." We hear Jace whisper to Clary

"So this is your safe hideout, huh?" Jace says to Clary

"Well, you think the Clave was gonna look here?" She says

"Can we please focus on the matter at hand? Unless no one here cares that the Clave is planning on murdering Meliorn." Izzy says clearly frustrated

"What?" Both Simon and Clary says

"They think Meliorn has more information on Valentine and the attack than he's saying."

"They're taking him to the Silent Brothers." I say

"We have to stop them!" Clary says

"That's the plan, Clary. Rescue and recovery." Jace says

"We get him from the guards, in and out, no one gets hurt." Izzy says
