~Chapter 33~
-HUNTERS P.O.V-
"Its on." I say as we walk into the go cart arena. "You know it Hayes." She says smirking at me and we get our helmets from the back room and we go out to the race track area. Skylar picks the go cart right in the front and I pick the one right behind her. "Ready?" She yells back smiling and I nod. "Go!" She yells driving off and I drive into the space next to her and I try to go around her and she rams into the side of me and I laugh as she looks at me. The way her hair was flying behind her and the way she would laugh when she got ahead of me. Things like these reminded me why I fell in love with her those many years ago. After racing for a couple hours we go to see how we did. "I beat you eight times!" I say laughing. "Yeah, but I beat you twelve times, loser." She says sticking her tongue out at me and I laugh. "Shut up." I say and she laughs and kisses me lightly. "I swear you practice." I say looking at her and she laughs again. "I have a secret go cart track and when your not home I go and practice." "I knew it." I say laughing and I wrap my arm around her waist and pull her to me as I pay and we walk out. "Now where too?" She says smiling and I shrug laughing. "Guess you'll see." I say and she smiles up at me. This was basically a repeat of the day I messed up three years ago with having to work that night. I wanted to have a redo of what started as a perfect day and ended as a bad one. We drive until we reach the small Italian restaurant that Skylar had loved the second I showed her it down here in Nashville. "Hayes." She says smiling and I get out and go to her side of the car and I open the door and I take her hand as she gets out. "About three years ago, I messed up a day you had planned for us and I wanted to recreate it and this time get it right." "So far its been perfect." She whispers and I kiss her lightly. "Then everythings going right." I say and she smiles as I lead her inside. "Table for two, I called in earlier." I say to the waiter once we get inside. "Last name?" He says and I smile. "Hayes." "Ah, Hayes, we have a special spot reserved for you both." The guy says as he leads us to the back of the restaurant to a secluded room that had a table for two in it. Soft music plays and the only light is coming from the dimmed chandelier above the table. On the table was a bottle of champagne and a vase with a dozen roses in it for Skylar. "Hunter." She breathed out smiling and I could tell she was happy as she only used my first name for when she was happy or mad with me. "Like it?" "I love it." "I love you." I say kissing her lightly and I pull out her chair and she sits. "You've outdone yourself." She whispers, her blue eyes glittering and I smile. "You look beautiful." I say taking her hand and she smiles. "Happy Anniversary." She replies and I nod. "To one year, I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you." I say and we clink our glasses together and we both take a sip. Soon our food arrives and we eat while talking and my phone buzzes and I see it's a text from Sam. 'Its ready,' it reads and I smile and put my phone in my pocket. We finish eating and I pay and we walk out to the car hand in hand as the sun begins to go down leaving the sky a dark purple and the breeze gently blows Skylars hair. The weather had been warm and the slight breeze made it perfect for spending the night under the stars. I'd never figured out how Skylar was going to end the date three years ago so I improvised. "Tonights been perfect." "Its not over yet." I whisper smiling and I open her door and she gets in and I go to my side of the car and get in. I begin to drive towards the studio and Skylar smiles the whole way there. I park and she looks at me. "Why are we at the studio?" She asks and I smile. "Cmon." I say and we both get out of the car and I take her hand and we go around to the back of the studio and I smile as she gasps. I had a tent set up in front a fire pit that was already blazing and there was a blanket with pillows laid next to it and my guitar is laying on the blanket. All around the small area was white string lights adding to the lighting in the area. "Its beautiful." She whispers and I smile and kiss her. "Just like you." I say as I lead her to the blanket and I sit down she sits next to me and I grab my guitar. "Any requests?" I say and she giggles her eyes shining and her smile never left her face. "You pick." She says and I smile and begin to play the acoustic version of Wanted and I start singing and the whole time she watches me play for her and I look up and see her blue eyes looking into mine. The way the fire illuminated her face and the way her blonde hair fell. She was perfect. I put my guitar down as I finish the song and I pull her to me and say lays against my chest. "I love you Hayes." "Always and forever." I reply and she looks up at the stars smiling before her eyes travel to mine as I was staring at her. "How are you not looking at this amazing view?" "Oh trust me, I am." I whisper and I find my lips on hers and she begins to move with me and I lay her back on the ground gently. The night continues on in almost complete silence, as we didnt express our love through words, but actions. Everyone could say I love you to someone but not everyone could show their truth behind the word's. The fire slowly dies leaving Skylar and I in the soft moonlight and the light from the white lights strung around us. The only noise that could be heard was the sound of the crickets chirping, the fast breath escaping from Skylars mouth, and our fast heartbeats that made their own song as they mixed together. She was everything to me, always and forever.
