Alone - #11

You had spent the train ride to Hogwarts alone. You sat in the great hall alone. You went back to the common room alone. Alone is how you spent the majority of your day. And that's how it seemed to continue until 2nd year. You were a shy Hufflepuff with only a few friends. You didn't really like being around many people. Most were just rude to you for no reason. Especially two boys from the year about you.

You wandered down the corridor with your books clutched close to your chest. You were walking back from the tranquility of the library when you were knocked by two 3rd years. "Why don't you watch where your going (Y/L/N)." Goyle spat inching towards you slowly.
"Yeah. Who are you; Potter? Do you need his glasses?" Crabbe laughed.
Goyle smirked as you began retreating back cautiously. Your back hit the stone wall and fear took over as you had no where to run. "Look. She's scared." Goyle spoke roughly.
The two bumbling oafs laughed. "She should be." Crabbe answered.
The boys began pulling their wands out until a voice was heard behind them. "Crabbe! Goyle! What do you think you're doing?" The soft, authorities voice of Draco Malfoy demanded. The idiots in front of you parted and spun round to face Draco. "Well?" He ordered, looking between the two boys.
His eyes caught yours briefly before looking again at Goyle, then directing his attention on you fully. "And who's this then?" Draco enquired.
His two friends fumbled around for a moment before one of them spoke. "(Y/N) (Y/L/N). Half blood Hufflepuff." Crabbe confirmed.
Draco rolled his eyes looking at the pair of them. "Well leave her. She's fine. Just pick on rude mudbloods like Granger. (Y/L/N) isn't going to do anything." He told them, dismissing the morons from the convocation.

You and Draco were soon left alone. You didn't know what to say. You didn't know if Draco particularly liked you, so you kept your head looking down.
"Hey. I'm really sorry about those two. There a pair of idiot." He chucked trying to encourage you to look up at him. "They probably won't be dicks to you anymore. And if they are, just, let me know." He smiled sweetly, not that you saw because you still haven't looked up.
Draco sighed and began walking away from you. You looked over at him getting further away. That's when your body took over without your minds permission.

You ran towards the tall blonde boy and grabbed his hand. He snapped round quickly, looking at you confused. "Thank you Draco." You smiled shyly. "No one has been that nice to me." You admitted, suddenly realising you were still holding his hand.
You let go immediately, letting his hand fall to his side. He smiled back at you and your nervousness.
"It's no problem. I couldn't have a pretty girl like you getting picked on by two gits like them." He spoke sweetly.
You giggled. You really weren't used to any compliments so you thanked him quietly.
"Well I better be off. Hope I see you around (Y/L/N)." He chirped, waving slightly and walking back to his dorm with a bouncy stride.

Throughout the rest of the year, Draco got closer with you. You both started studying together after classes, going to Hogsmeade with one another and he even taught you how to ride a broom because you still didn't really understand. Best of all though, you had a friend who wasn't rude to you or took advantage of your knowledge. He genuinely wanted to hang around with you which made you happier than ever. Also after that day, Crabbe and Goyle never picked on you again. In fact, no one did. No one dared hurt Draco Malfoy's best friend.
You both helped each other in different ways. But what neither of you saw, was what everyone did see. You both had massive crushes on each other. You both made it pretty obvious but the two of you were so oblivious. It was almost as obvious as Ron and Hermione. But you were both waiting for the right time to tell each other.
