Draco shot up in his bed in cold sweats and looked franticly around the room. In the corner of the bedroom he thought he saw him. Draco cowered away to the head of the bed with his knees pulled up to his chest and his eyes clenched tightly shut. The devil of a man was stood still in the far end of the room watching over him. The dream he had just jumped out of had not helped his mental state and forced him to irrationally imagine the impossible. That Voldemort would be back one day. And that day could be now.

As your husband sobbed into his arm you were woken by the shaking of the bed. You sat up, quickly noticing the man you loved, crying uncontrollably into his arm. You wrapped your arms around him and pulled his body against yours. "Shh. It's okay. He's gone. He's not coming back. I've got you." You soothed.
This had been a regular occurrence for the past few years. As the 15 year anniversary of the battle of Hogwarts came and went, it bought back flashbacks and nightmares from the events he was forced to take part in. It had happened a sporadic amount before the date and every year around the anniversary but now it was worse than ever. "I-I. H-he's. Ov-ver there." He stuttered out as he clung onto you in terror.

You looked over to where Draco was referring to, and saw the dark shadow that the curtain and the light from the street outside cast into the room. Kissing the top of his head lovingly, you whispered reassuring words into his ear. Before he sat up, you took your wand from beside your bed and adjusted the curtain so it wouldn't project an ominous shadow into the room.
Draco sat looking into your eyes and apologised. "I'm so sorry (Y/N). I have tried to be a better man. I have tried to treat you better than before. I just feel so guilty. I'm just so scared." He confessed as you shook your head.
"Draco. Stop. What happened wasn't your fault. But he isn't coming back. He's gone, okay." You reassured him brushing the falling blonde hair that flopped in front of his eyes.
Draco took a deep breath. "But what about the battle. I can never forgive myself for what I did to you." He cried.
You shook your head forcefully. "That wasn't you! That was Bellatrix. She is the one that hurt me." You told him.
Draco didn't know how to feel. "But I should have stopped her. I should have done something. I should have been stronger. But I wasn't." He listed, regrettably.
You pulled him into a hug before speaking once more. "Draco. You did everything you could. You had to protect your family. I don't blame you. I would have done the same. You know that. And you are a better man now. You have a son that looks up to you and loves you almost as much as I do." You kissed him softly.

Draco snuggled into your chest tighter as you stroked his hair soothingly. You soon heard his shaky breath even out into a steady pace that showed he had fallen asleep. You looked over to his bed side table to see a half empty bottle of rum sat there. You gazed at the boy sleeping soundly in your arms. "Oh Draco. What did they do to you." You sighed. "I'm so proud of you though. Your past is not the brightest but look at you now. You have come so far. Please don't throw it all away. I need you." You continued to whisper.
As you continued to play with his hair, the gentle rhythm you got into sent you to sleep.

You woke up with Draco still clutching onto you, by your son who was jumping on top of you both. Your husband emitted a pained groan as Scorpius flopped onto his father. "Morning. I'm hungry mummy." Your son greeted energetically.
Draco sat up, rubbing the sleep and dried tears from his eyes. "Now, Scorpius. We are politer than that, aren't we?" Draco told him firmly but still kindly.
Scorpius' big grey eyes widened and his head nodded. "Sorry." He kissed you on the cheek with a sloppy childish kiss and hugged his dad.
Draco held onto his son as he flung he's legs off of the bed and stood up. "Shall we go downstairs and make mummy some breakfast?" Draco asked as his little boy wrapped his arms around the taller mans neck. Your son nodded and Draco smiled, winking at you and walking out of the room.

You enjoyed the small moment of piece. The house was hectic with a young boy running around and a fear ridden husband who was to proud to admit it to anyone other than you. You loved them both dearly and couldn't picture your life without the two of them. You pulled yourself out of bed and strolled downstairs. As you crept into the kitchen, you leant on the doorframe, listening to the convocation Draco was having with Scorpius. "Don't ever do something you think is wrong, okay. It doesn't matter what the person says. You have to be the strong wizard I know you are." Draco told the boy who looked up to him like a god.
The small platinum haired boy nodded and smiled. "Like mummy?" He confirmed.
Draco nodded. "Just like mummy." He affirmed, nodding back.
You took this as a queue to make you presents know, so you walked over and wrapped your arms around Draco's waist. "Also like your dad. The strongest man I know." You kissed his cheek and rested your chin on his shoulder.
Your son looked up at the two of you. The two of you were so perfect in his unexplored little mind. But you both had cold, merciless pasts, but the present was what you needed to focused on. You, Draco and Scorpius. Together.
