The Great Hall was a buzzing hive of voices and excitement. It was just less than a week before the Christmas holidays and everyone was loosing interest in school and focusing their attention on the few weeks off.

It was one of the last meals before everyone left to rejoin their families for the break. The Gryffindor table seemed extremely excited. More than normal.
Draco rolled his eyes at the noisy red house as he ate his shepherds pie.
"Look at them. What is so funny?" Draco scowled at the long Gryffindor table, with particular emphasis on the Weasley twins and his fellow third years Harry and Ronald.
Blaze and Pansy just shrugged as Goyle looked round at the superior house. With Draco shovelling down another mouthful of peas, he looked up to see mashed potato being hurled in his direction. Thankfully it never hit him as Goyle was sat directly opposite, talking the impact. Malfoys sidekick turned slowly to face his house mates, creamy potato slipping down his face and slopping onto his black robes.

Draco muffles his laughter as he looked at his friend. "Goyle. You've got a little something on your face. Right, there." Malfoy gestured to him as Goyle just sat there stunned. Even Pansy was finding it hard not to laugh at the plump oaf.
Before Draco could say another word, a small, round, green pea bounced off of his forehead. He snapped his head round to look at the Gryffindors as Harry hid behind Ron and the twins fell on each other in fits of laughter. Rons face on the other hand was a picture of worry and regret.

Draco shot daggers at the ginger boy as he cowered where he sat. "That idiot. If he even thinks about doing that one more time." He warned to his friends.
As they began to nod, a shout was heard from the two older Weasleys "FOOD FIGHT!" They called, sending everyone into a frenzy.
People began taking handfuls of food and hurling them across the room in different directions. Most people weren't actually aiming at anyone, but instead just throwing the food at any moving target.
Some people held up their metallic, silver plates to shield them from the incoming flying objects.

Draco however, thought it best if he stayed out of the ordeal. He looked round at his friends who were scooping up handfuls of mash, vegetables and bread roles. They all seemed to be sending them soaring to the other tables. Especially Crabbe. He seemed to really be getting into the whole thing.
Draco just rolled his eyes at the immaturity of the surrounding students and slipped swiftly under the table to take cover.
As carrots flew over the table and peas rolled underneath, Draco sat on the cold stone floor and looked around. There was only one other person under there. He recognised her from classes. He recognised you.

You looked over at the platinum haired boy as his soft grey eyes scanned you wearily. "You didn't want to get hit by pies either?" You joked, sliding down closer to him.
He shook his head proudly. "No. Goyle already has mash slapped on his face. And I just washed my robes." He confirmed.
You giggled at the boy and his excuses. "How long do you think this will go on for?" You asked, contemplating wether you should poke your head out from under the table and check the extent of the amusing fight.
Draco shrugged. "Dumbledoor should have really said something by now."

The space under the table soon went pitch black and you grabbed Draco's hand instinctively. You were afraid of the dark and didn't like not knowing what was going on. The surroundings became quiet as everyone wondered why the room had gone dark. You and Draco slithered out from under the table to see the bewitched ceiling as dark as uninhabited space and the candles blown out.
Suddenly you heard a booming voice from the end of the hall. "Everyone sit down at once." You still gripped firmly to Draco's hand as he squeezed it reassuringly. "I know you are all excited for the holidays but this is a school. Not a zoo." Dumbledoor called out to his students.
A single candle was lit where he was stood as he scanned the room, almost observing every child individually. "You shall all be escorted back to your dorms by your heads of house. Everyone but you four." He pointed at Harry, Ron, Fred and George.

Draco began sniggering and the candles that surrounded the room, flickered back on. You tugged on his hand and followed your house, lead by Snape, back to the common room.
When you all arrived, Professor Snape glared at each and every one of you until his eyes fell on you and Draco. "Everyone to bed. Now." He demanded.
The gaggle of students walked solemnly to their rooms as Snape stopped the two of you.
As the room cleared, he began. "I find it strange how the two of you are not covered in food, when you, Mr Malfoy, are usually the one to be instigating the trouble." He observed.
Your hand was still locked around Draco's. "I have no idea what you mean sir." He simply stated, dragging you away and seeing you safely to your dorm.
