You were a Legilimen. For those of you unfamiliar with this act, a Legiliment is able to navigate through people's minds to see and know anything they may think or remember. You were born with the talent of Legilimency and were proud of your power. You tried not to tell anyone for a long time about the power you possessed, but it soon became obvious. At the age of 16, you were thrown out of Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for non-consensually delving into the minds of a multitude of teachers. You found out some pretty scandalous secrets. Some of which you shared with your peers. Some of which you may have to take to the grave. To say your parents were unimpressed would be an understatement. Luckily, your mother and father had been students at Hogwarts so had asked if they would kindly take you in. You had lived in England until you were 5 years old but moved when your father got a job at the Magical Congress in America to help British Witches and Wizards in the foreign land.

So here you were stood in the office of the great Albus Dumbledore himself as he paced around the room. You resisted the temptation to look within his mind as to what his true initial impressions were of you. It wasn't every day you gain a student from another country who just so happened to be kicked out of her last school for misusing their gift. You really wanted to know exactly why he would take in someone like you. It's not like you had the best track record and it's not like you exactly stood out in class either. So why did he think you were worth helping. Maybe he just liked attempting to assist the helpless cases. Maybe he saw it as a challenge. Whatever the reason, you were great full.

The older Wizard stood in front of you with his hands behind his back. "Miss (Y/L/N). Here at Hogwarts, we will not tolerate any bad behaviour. As long as you don't use your gift in a malicious fashion, we will have no reason to punish you for your actions. Is that clear?" He asked clearly.
You nodded. "Of course professor Dumbledore sir." As he began to walk away, you relaxed a little bit and look at at the elder man walking to his desk. Suddenly, you entered his thoughts but quickly looked away in an attempt to withdraw yourself from them. Visions of a multitude of dangerous ex-students filtered into your head after you stopped the link between his mind and yours.
Looking timidly back at the man, you realised he was already looking at you in horror. "I'm so sorry sir. I didn't mean to. It just happens sometimes when I get a little to relaxed around people. Then when I panic, they can tell that I'm in their heads. I'm terribly sorry." You apologised, wide eyed and full of regret. There where times you couldn't control it, but for the majority of the time you were fine. It was just when you were nervous or overly calm. And most of the time people didn't realise you were in their heads, that is until, like you said, you panicked and people could then see exactly what you were looking at.

"I understand. Just do your best to keep it under control. And try not to panic when it happens." He reassured you. "You may leave now." He concluded as he sat at his desk.
You turned around and headed for the door. Once you got to it, there were so many questions you wanted to ask about the students that you had seen in his memory. You hesitated at the door before walking out.

You had been sorted into Slytherin but hadn't yet met anyone from the school aside from Dumbledore and Snape. The greasy haired man, who was now your head of house, had escorted you down multiple corridors and numerous floors to finally reach the dudgeon where your common room was positioned. Snape opened the door for you, but with a flick of his robe, the long noses man was gone.
Taking a deep breath, you strolled into the dark green, Slytherin common room. It was magnificent, much grander than Ilvermorny. A group of first years were huddled round a table to your right, while a cluster of 6th years were discussing something on the sofas by the fire to your left.

You began to wonder for a moment. They wouldn't know if I just looked into their mind for a moment. It's highly unethical. But then again, do you really care about ethical. As you approached the group of 6th years, a few of them turned to you. "Hi." You announced as one of the girls looked you up and down.
"Hello. Who are you?" She asked with attitude.
Resist it. "I'm (Y/N). I just moved here." You told her.
The girl raised her eyebrows. Resist (Y/N). "Are you in 6th year?" She continued to question.
You nodded. "Yeah. And who are you?" You enquired with a bit of confidence.
"Pansy Parkinson. That's Blaise. And that's Goyle. Draco will be in here soon." She explained biting her lip.
You gave in. You just had to know what she was thinking, so you sat down on the other side of the sofa and glanced over at her subtlety. Thoughts raced through your head but soon you found the one about you. 'She's pretty. Draco's going to like her more than me. Stupid girl. Oh (Y/N)? That's a pretty name. No, your supposed to hate her. But I guess she could be okay. Unless she's a mudblood.' You swiftly came out of her mind without the girl knowing and smiled. She could be alright once she got used to you.
But the question that was on your mind now was, who was Draco and why did she like him so much?

Your question was immediately answered when a platinum haired boy strutted confidently into the room and sat in the armchair beside you. He let out a long sigh before his eyes fell on you. A scowl fell across his face. "And who might you be?" He spat venomously.
But a smirk just stretched across your face, because you knew exactly what he thought of you really. "(Y/N) (Y/L/N)." You told him as your eyes grazed over his entire body.
He looked at you with slight confusion but a smile was trying to form at the side of his moth. He wouldn't show it though.

The group began discussing various things and you continued to delve into the minds of your peers unnoticed. It was rather fun finding out what they really thought about each other. The only person who didn't seem to like you was Blaise, but that didn't bother you. He didn't seem to pleasant anyway.
Once everyone began to walk out of the common room towards their dorms, you looked over to Draco. "Don't worry. I didn't think you were lame. You're pretty cool. And much hotter than Blaise." You told him with a wink.
Draco's eyes widened as he grabbed your arms before you could follow Pansy to your dorm. "How the hell did you know I was thinking that?" He asked with a sly smile emerging onto his lips.
"Maybe I didn't. However, maybe I'm just a strangely powerful Witch." You raised your eyebrows, smiling at the boy before you. "Just don't think about anything to incriminating if you don't want me to know. Although, I would probably be doing the same as you in our situation." You glanced down at his covered left forearm that was gripping yours and gave a reassuring grin.
Draco let go of your hand and watched you walk away in awe. He was fascinated by your power. But also glad that you didn't ridicule him about the predicament he was in. He could tell you were going to be a close friend of his. And after reading his final thoughts, you agreed entirely.
