Draco had been planning it for a good 2 hours. He wasn't one to over think things. He didn't want a flamboyant gesture but he also didn't want to be to simple. You and Draco had never been official friends but would defiantly call each other close acquaintances. But even though you didn't know each other exceptionally well, Draco still had a crush on you. For this reason, he wanted to ask you to the Yule Ball.

Walking into the Great Hall at lunch, he spotted you sitting with Pansy and some of your other friends. He took his place in between Crabbe and Goyle, then greeted them with a nod.
"So how are you going to ask her?" Goyle asked, referring to you.
Draco frowned. "It's not really a question of how I'm going to ask. It's more, how could anyone resist." He spoke cockily to his friends, but deep down he knew you were different to other girls and may not like the display he was about to create.
The two boys smiled, nodding at Draco's confidence. They looked up to him like a flock of sheep looking towards their shepherd.

The hall wasn't filled up like it would be for dinner so Draco knew if anything did go wrong, he wouldn't make a total fool of himself. He quickly stood up before he could back out, climbing onto the bench and then upon the table. "Attention. I have something to ask (Y/N) (Y/L/N)!" He spoke loudly, gaining everybody's eyes on him.
You looked up at the pale blonde boy who was stood a few meters away from you. Your face was red with embarrassment, but it also looked confused. You were a timid, proud Slytherin who did not like attention.
Draco continued. "(Y/L/N)? Will you accompany me to the Yule Ball?" He smirked, raising his eyebrows at you.
You looked around at the people watching you intently for a reply. Staring back up at Draco, you turned your nose up before letting it fall back into a timid look. You shook your head, looking down at your hands.
Yes, you liked him. But that didn't mean he was going to get you that easily. His cocky persona was just a facade that he was trying to maintain, and one you didn't want to be a part of. If he really wanted to ask, you wanted him to do it with some decency.

Draco scowled at you. But quickly, hurt flooded him and his body language was just pained. He jumped down from the table and marched back to the common room, leaving you sat there with numerous pairs of eyes on you.
Pansy nudged you, looking concerned. "Are you alright (Y/N)? You still like him don't you?" She enquired as people began to look away, finally.
You nodded. "Yeah. But I just don't want him to be such a big headed git. I won't try to change him but if he's gonna act like that then I won't say yes." You explained. Pansy nodded knowing exactly what you meant.
Placing a hand on your shoulder, she stood up. "Come on. Let's get to Charms or Flitwick will have us in detention for a week. He hates us." She spoke as you giggled at her comment.

Later that day, Draco was moping in the common room alone. As Pansy walked down the stairs from your shared dorm, she saw the boy lead on the emerald sofa. "Malfoy." She called, earning a quick response from Draco as he shot up to look at her.
"What do you want?" He spoke grumpily.
Pansy rolled her eyes. "Stop acting so hurt and go and ask (Y/N) to the ball." She commanded.
Draco just shook his head. "What's the point. I already asked her and she said no." He commented.
Pansy looked up at the stairs she had just descended from. "(Y/L/N) will be down here in two minutes. Now, take your head out from your arse. Stop being a pretentious sod. And ask her like a gentleman." Pansy demanded angrily.
With that she stormed off to dinner, leaving Draco in the room on his own, stunned into silence.

As soon as you came down the stairs, Draco's eyes locked onto your perfect body as you glided into the room.
"Good evening." Draco greeted.
You looked down at the floor as you approached him. "Is it." You spoke sassily.
Draco just sighed. "Look I'm sorry about earlier. I was being a big headed prat and I really shouldn't have. You are truly lovely and I would be honoured if you would join me in going to the Yule Ball. But if you don't want to, I can see why." Draco admitted.
You smiled softly, looking at the outgoing Slytherin Prince who was beginning to show a side of himself he didn't dare to show anyone but his family. Draco didn't look at you but you began to speak, grabbing his attention instantly. "Okay. I'll go with you. Only if you promise not to draw so much attention to me ever again. Ever!" You chuckled.
Draco looked you in the eye and nodded. "Of course. Thank you (Y/L/N)." He gratefully thanked before kissing your soft rosy cheek, delicately. It felt as though his lips touched your skin so lightly that if he used any more force, you would break.
He pulled away and smiled down at you sweetly. You reciprocated and walked out of the common room to the Great Hall, leaving Draco head over heals.
