Chapter 40: Le Aurore

I was still stunned. The limo was extravagant. Marami bang paparazzi's ang dadating? I couldn't take it. It will be surely publicized!
He suddenly held my hand and intertwined it tightly. Maybe he saw how tensed I am.

"It's just an Auction. Think of it as a date." He reminded.

"Uhm, what kind of Auction?" I asked.

"It's just about some paintings and the higher the bid, you have the chance to get it. It'll be donated to some foundations." He explained.

It melts my heart that he didn't go because it's a event but because it's something beneficial.
While we were getting near to the venue. I exhaled and fixed myself.

"You look really stunning." He whispered.

I suddenly saw flashes from outside and some people yelling.

"Ang daming tao!" I nervously said.

He went down first. He bent down and lended me his hand so I went inside.

He smiled and waved. His hand still intertwined around mine. Dumarami lalo ang flashes. I just gave them a smile. While we were entering, he possessively held my waist. Marami kaagad ang bumati sa kanya. There were some filipino businessmen dahil sa itsura pa lang ay makikita mo na. He greeted them back.

"I see you have a beautiful date here." A young businessman who looks like the same age as me and James.

"Nadine, this is Ivo Alonzo, a friend of mine." James formally introduced as Ivo offered me his hand.

"It's nice meeting you, Nadine." He said and I shook hands with him.

"Back off, Ivo." James said in a pissed tone.

"Are you guys together?" He asked. I was about to answer but as always, he interrupted me.

"Yes. Ivo, hindi ka puwede sa kanya." He seriously said.

"I'm just asking. Stop being so defensive!" He said laughing.

"Fucker! Go back to your girl!" He slightly whispered.

"Love, don't go far, okay?" He whispered really near to my ear that his lips was slightly touching it already.

I only nodded. Ipinalibot muna namin 'iyong mga paintings. Ang daming magaganda! But there's something that caught my eye. Si James ay nakikipagusap sa isa niyang kaibigang businessman rin. I touched the part of the painting's description. I was really interested with it.

Le Aurore or The Aurora. It was a painting of the beautiful northern lights or the aurora in Iceland. That was my dream destination but I couldn't just go there. But I knew I couldn't afford it. It looks beautiful to be sold for just a thousands. Maybe it costs a million.

"You like it?" He suddenly asked as he wrapped his arms around me again.

"Uh, no." I denied. "I'm just so amazed by it. Ang ganda kasi." I continued.
