**| Sang's POV |**

On Wednesday, I managed to find myself cornered by Helen. I wasn't even sure how it happened. I was walking with Silas, well he was in front of me and I was using him to clear a path for me to AP Biology after lunch.

Then a hand grabbed my arm, nails digging into my skin, and I was yanked into an empty classroom.

Now I was looking up at Helen as her hazel eyes blazed with anger. My mouth opened to say something but I was still too surprised to actually say anything.

"This is all your fault," she hissed in my face. Her entire body was shaking with the anger she felt towards me.

"Wh-"

She shook her head before I could even ask anything.

"Don't. Just don't. I got away. I was free." Her eyes raked over my body. "Until you showed up and ruined everything." She shoved me harder against the wall. "And now, everything is ruined."

"What are you talking about?" I finally asked, my heart pounding loudly in my head. My insides crawled with trepidation at having her so close to me. Flashes of my mother threatened to overwhelm me but I fought through them. Diane was dead and Helen was not her.

"They are coming to meet you. You spurred them to come over here. They want to meet their precious Catia's daughter."

"But they aren't here just to meet me," I said, hoping to calm her down.

"True, but you are a big reason. And now I'm forced to deal with them, to host them in my home. I got away from them and you dragged them here when you moved here."

"I-I'm so-"

"Don't," she snapped. "Just don't. I'm only from a small branch of the family, I'm not part of the main branch and I was happy with that. No expectations. But now? Now I'm being thrown into the middle of things again. I have to smile and nod and take their bullshit because of you and your idiot father."

She stepped back, putting space between us and ran a hand through her hair. She looked tired and annoyed, but some of the fire was out of her as her shoulders lowered slightly. She stared out the window for a moment, biting on her lip before focusing back on me.

"Whatever, it doesn't matter anymore. I'm here to tell you are invited to a dinner party on Saturday night. Seven sharp. You may bring a date if you have one, but your father is not invited. In fact, he's persona non grata. They'll probably shoot the ungrateful asshole on sight."

The door burst open and Silas stormed through with North and Nathan, interrupting anything else Helen was about to say.

"Aggele," Silas said, coming towards us, not even looking at Helen as he pulled me into his side and further away from Helen. "Are you okay?"

I nodded. "I'm fine," I said.

"What the fuck did you do to her?" North asked, scowling hard at Helen. He was the biggest advocate against Helen and all that anger towards her showed through as he stared her down.

She paled slightly but straightened her poster and sent him her own glare.

"That's between me and her. Who the hell are you and what are you to her?" she snapped back.
