Ethan -

Once Rebecca had finished, I was finally able to pull her outside to talk.

"What is it?" She asked.

"Would it be possible for him to be an omega?" I asked in a hushed tone, being so close to the door.

"What? A bit abrupt don't you think. What makes you ask?"

"Just answer me."

"Well, you would need to run a blood test to make sure but yes, although rare, males can be omegas." I took a second before I decided to ask my next concern.

"Would that include the ability to imprint?"

"Wait, don't tell me..." Rebecca held her hand up to her mouth with eyes wide.

"Oh my god Ethan, you didn't."

"Listen, I didn't do anything. All I did was touch him and, well, I think we maybe might have imprinted. Is that even possible?"

"I don't know. Usually when you imprint you at least know the other person's name or have some sort of prior relation. Have you met him before?"

"No, or at least if I did I don't remember."

"I'll contact Basel. If you really did imprint on him. This is going to make things a bit more complicated."

"Why do you say it like I wanted to? Can't there be like a mistake or a way to, I don't know, un-imprint?" My voice was sounded increasingly more frustrated.

"Well Basel would know more than me but for now, try not to worry too much. You may have just had gas or something." I glared.

"What? It's nothing to be ashamed of. It happens. Either way, keep him close. And don't you dare pressure him into telling you something he doesn't want to say."

"Why do you say that? You've been acting pretty nice to him considering where he comes from."

"Where he comes from has nothing to do with who he is. You out of everyone should know that." The air tensed for a moment as both of us took in what she hinted at. I didn't respond.

"It's going to be pretty hard to get the information you want if he's scared to so much as make eye contact with you. If you are worried about him working with Ian, what's the most he can do at this point? He is clearly in no position to fight and if anything, Ian would have made himself clear that he wants him back by now. He isn't smart enough to plan all this to in order to infiltrate us. For all we know they exchanged casserole recipes before you found him and Ian's scent stuck around."

I knew she had a point. Still, I couldn't help feeling uneasy on his presence. I didn't say anything else and lead her to the door.

"Oh, and for the imprinting, if there's no connection, it will eventually be undone. Of course, doesn't mean it didn't happen for a reason."

I disregarded her last comment as her just teasing me again and closed the door behind her.

Once her car rolled out of the driveway I heard bare footsteps from the dining room.

"I'm hungry. When are you making lunch?" Noah asked before munching on a handful of cereal directly from the box.

"I'll be right there. Eat an apple or something in the meantime."

I then headed back to the room where I found Ren hadn't moved, sitting on the edge of the bed. I noticed his hands clutched the sheets as I came in and he avoided looking over at me.

"Alright, let's try this one more time. I know you are confused and to be honest, so am I, but for now let's get used to each other since we're probably going to be spending some time together. Unless you have something to say about it?" I was hoping he might show signs of wanting to go back.
