Ren -

Everything was very fuzzy in the morning. I remember first hearing birds chirping and feeling warm. When I opened my eyes, I felt heavy and wasn't really all there. It was only when I turned to see Ethan sitting up in bed next to me stroking my hair while looking at his phone that things slowly came to me.

The woods, going into labor, hearing that Ethan...I was just happy it's over.

Ethan looked down and smiled at me once he saw my eyes open.

"How do you feel?"

"...The baby..."

"He's with Rebecca downstairs. We'll go get him once you feel better."

"When did we get back?"

"About yesterday." He said with a laugh.

"What time is it?"

"About six. Everyone is still asleep. Are you alright? How do you feel?"

"Okay...sluggish. Can I see the baby?"

"Let me see if I can pry him away from the girls." He smiled.

He got up and went downstairs. I could hear faintly Emily complain that she was playing with him.

I heard his footsteps up the stairs and when the door opened, I couldn't breathe for a second.

"There's someone here to meet you." He hushed with a grin. Rebecca came in right behind him, likely to check up on me.

Everything seemed to diminish in importance except the sight of him. My heart stopped and it seemed like the only thing that could get it going once again was having him in my grasp.

When Ethan settled his tiny self into my arms, the air was sucked right out of my chest and a knot formed at the back of my throat.

The instant love and affection I felt was overwhelming. His swaddled body was unbearably small and I was scared if I squeezed just a bit too tightly he might disappear. His plump little face was asleep but with the slight twitch of his nose, his lip, his eye, my heart became fuller and the knot became tighter. It became so real to me that this was the little guy that had gone through so much with me these past few months. My little partner in crime.

"If you ask me, it's a good thing he takes after Ren." Rebecca said.

"You can't tell at this point. Right now he just looks like a potato." Ethan remarked.

I glanced up to him to see his gleaming face smiling down at me. Everything felt so complete and it was almost as if my heart couldn't take it all in. I completely lost my composure and began to cry.

Ethan wiped away my tears and leaned down, wrapping an arm around me. He helped support Finn under me as he stroked my hair while I sobbed into his shirt.

"I'll leave the happy family alone for now." Rebecca said before stepping out.

I looked back down to little Finn. By now, he had woken up and seemed to be frantically looking around, taking in his new surroundings.

"Hi there Finn. It's nice to finally meet you."
