Chapter Fifteen

Ethan -

"Who might this be?!" I heard a loud obnoxious scream coming from the doorway.

"Shit." I mumbled.

"Who's that?" Ren asked before a blonde brightly colored girl darted into the living room.

"You must be Ren. You are even cuter than I imagined!" She exclaimed. Ren was completely confused as she grabbed him by the cheeks and inspected him.

I had invited Ren to the main house for dinner. Not only had Akihito unexpectedly tagged along, little did I know Logan would also bring along his girlfriend Emily.

She originally worked as a nurse under Rebecca but after she was fired from the hospital for fighting her ex in front of the nurses station, Rebecca gave her a second chance at the clinic since she realized she was also a shifter. Her and Logan somehow hit it off soon after and started dating. I never really appreciated her presence considering her unreal amount of energy and noisiness.

"Uh-yea..." Ren said, clearly uncomfortable. We had been sitting on the couch waiting for the food to finish in the oven before being rudely interrupted.

"Let him go. He doesn't even know who you are." I said.

"Oh! I'm Emily. I'm Logan's girlfriend. If you ever need anything, you can count on me. I know it has probably been rough ever since, you know." Ren's eyes widened.

"Logan! What the hell? How much did you even tell her?!"

"I don't know. I probably talked too much while I was drunk."

"It's fine. I don't mind." Ren reassured but I knew it was still a bit of a shock.

"Why are you here anyways?"

"Logan invited me."

"No I di-"

"Anyway, when's food done? I'm starving." She said sliding her purse off. I noticed she was still wearing her scrubs from work.

"It's still in the oven." I sighed.

"Well I'm going to look for snacks." She said before heading back to the kitchen.

"Nice seeing you again Ren." Logan said before tagging along.

"I wouldn't have expected Logan's girlfriend to be so-"

"Annoying?"

"Eccentric." Ren corrected.

So much for a nice dinner with Ren. Ever since we met up that day, we haven't had a second alone. If it's not the restaurant, it's his brother, and if it's not his brother, it's the pack. Almost three weeks of barely seeing him - much less touching him - and it's beginning to drive me crazy.

With everyone's voices in the kitchen as background noise, I discretely placed my hand on Ren's thigh. I looked up for his reaction to see him shyly smile downwards.

"Oh hello. Who are you?" I heard Emily.

"Akihito. He's Ren's brother." I quickly pulled my hand away.

Jesus Christ, I felt like some teenager sneaking around my girlfriend's parents.

"Oh Akihito! Right!" Emily shouted. At the same time I heard the oven ding.

"I guess dinners done." I stood up and motioned Ren to follow.

Ren helped me set the table while Logan plated all the food. Once everyone sat down it felt like a family gathering. Ren sat next to me but Akihito was right in front of us.
