Ethan -
Around four in the morning, I was woken up by some commotion. I was too deep in sleep to realize what it was but when I felt next to me on the bed, I realized Ren wasn't there. I shot up and out of bed.
"Ren?!" I desperately shouted. It was still dark out. He couldn't have left on his own.
Just then I heard a noise from the bathroom.
I rushed in to find Ren hunched over on the toilet throwing his guts up. I was still dazed from sleep and couldn't figure out how to react. I leaned down and began to stroke his back.
"What happened?" I asked when he paused to cough.
"I-I don't know." He got out before continuing to heave harshly into the toilet. I helped him pull his bangs away from his face as he continued. He was already sweating so I wondered how long he had been sitting here.
Was it something he ate? Everyone ate the same thing last night. He might just have the flu but he didn't show signs the night before. I was for sure going to take him to the clinic. This didn't seem right.
Ren continued for another five minutes before finally calming down. He probably let out everything he'd eaten in the last month. I flushed the toilet and I helped him up to the sink so he could rinse his mouth. I thought I would ask him more about how he felt but before he could even step out of the bathroom, Ren without warning toppled limply into my arms.
"Ren? Ren?!" I tried shake him awake but it looked like he fainted. In a state of panic I lifted him up and rushed him to my car, having only slipped on a pair of sandals.
I laid him in the back seat and drove him to the clinic. Rebecca usually got there around five so I was going to get there just as she was. About halfway there Ren stirred awake but stayed laying down. He said he was too dizzy to sit up.
When we finally arrived, Ren was able to walk himself inside but I stayed next to him in case he fainted again.
Inside, we waited for Rebecca in one of the exam rooms. She came in and examined Ren.
"Looks like you're a bit anemic. Let me get you a drip to help and you'll be good to go." She said.
"Are you sure it's just that? He could barely move on the way here." I brought up.
"Depending on the severity, anemia can cause you to become very lightheaded and weak to the point it may be hard to stand. Do you feel any other type of pain Ren?"
"Hmm, not really." He didn't sound as confident as I would like.
"Then I wouldn't worry too much. If anything does come up, just bring him back and we'll take a closer look." I wasn't completely convinced but nodded. She then stepped out to get the drip.
I looked back down at Ren who sat on the the examination table. He still looked pale but seemed to have a bit more energy. Noticing I was looking, he glanced up at me with those beautiful eyes I love so much. I smiled slightly.
"Are you sure nothing else is bothering you?"
"....I-I don't know. I have a weird feeling in my stomach. It's probably just like she said but, I can't really shake it off."
"You might still be a bit nauseous." Ren nodded in agreeance.
"Can you call Aki for me? He will probably get to the house soon and I don't want him to worry."
"It's still some time before seven but I'll call him. Wait here, alright?" Ren nodded again and I stepped out into the small lobby in the back. Before I could call Akihito, Basil suddenly came in.
"Oh hey." I greeted him but quickly realized he wasn't here to say hello. He seemed rushed and looked to just have gotten out of bed and thrown on the first set of clothes he saw. I noticed he was clutching onto a dirt stained sheet of paper.
"Ethan, thank god I found you."
"What's wrong?"
He took a second to catch his breath and process what he was going to say. His expression then went serious.
"Two members were just found dead and another four were injured in the woods. A fight broke out and it looks to have been instigated by Ian."
My blood went cold. I couldn't believe it. Right when things were finally fitting into place it seemed like everything was distorted once again.
"How...What the hell does he want?!"
"This was found next to the bodies." He handed me the paper he had been holding.
They won't be the last ones. Consider this declaration of war until what is rightfully ours is returned. Then we will accept a truce.
"That son of a bitch!" I felt my blood boiling and the pressure building for me to explode. I wanted to rip his head off. The only way he will ever stop is if he's dead.
"I'm going to kill him."
"Ethan! Control yourself. We need to approach this rationally."
"How?! By giving him Ren and hoping for a truce?!"
"Of course not! But violence is not the answer in situations like these. If you cause a spark, the fire will soon follow."
"Don't bullshit me with your peace talks. What the hell are they going to do when it comes to Ian?"
"Even if we use violence, we can't go attack him at random. That's what he wants. We will discuss this further with everyone later. For now, let's take care of the damage already done."
Before I could say more, I heard the door where Ren was slam open. We both turned to see Rebecca rush out and call for a nurse.
"What happened?!" I shouted before running in.
I spotted Ren toppled down on the floor unconscious.
"Ren!" I got down next to him and picked him up into my arms, desperately trying to shake him awake.
"Rebecca! What happened?!" Basel exclaimed.
"H-He suddenly fainted before I could put in the IV. He wasn't responsive right before either."
"What was the IV for?"
"Ethan brought him in after vomiting and fainting. I saw he was anemic and was going to get some fluid in him."
"Anemia shouldn't cause him to become like this so suddenly."
Basel came next to us on the floor and examined Ren who was starting to stir awake.
"Ethan, why don't you step out and let me examine him more closely. I'll run a blood test to see if we can find anything." I was reluctant to leave Ren but agreed and laid him on the table.
