Ren -

It's been three months since I last saw Ethan that night.

Aki wouldn't let me leave the apartment - much less to go find him - since I was still recovering. I couldn't help be reminded of when we were kids and he would care for me when I was sick. For almost two weeks, Aki stayed by my bedside and brought me anything I needed - even if I hadn't asked. When he first brought me, I was too out of it to notice the interior but once he finally let me get out of bed, I was surprised to see how it looked. Everything was so clean and modern. It was clear it wasn't cheap in the slightest.

When I brought it up to Aki, he told me about how he managed to get back on his feet. He wouldn't go into detail about when he first left but talked about the old man who left him a large inheritance and his new position in that man's company. I suppose it was a really good position considering how much Aki had to spend.

Despite the money, Aki was still the same Aki I remember. Granted, he was much more mature but he still had the same gestures, the same smile, the same laugh, and the same way he called my name.

Although I had this newfound sense of family, I felt an emptiness inside me.

Not once since I left had Ethan bothered to contact me. Not even after what he said, not after what I said. For a while I thought that night have been a dream but I still feel those emotions towards him. Just the thought of his face sends my heart beating. I couldn't take this silence anymore. I wanted to hear from him, to see him.

"Ren-Ren, I have to go into the office today, will you be alright?" Aki said waking me. He had furnished an extra room for me the day after I came. It looked like someone had been living here already with a closet full of clothes my size and a made bed. It was strange sleeping on a bed in my own room. For once in my life something felt like I could relate to normal people with things I could call my own. He had gone as far as getting me a TV, phone, and computer to catch up with the everyday world.

The computer especially helped. He had bought several programs to help improve skills I missed out on without school like reading, writing, math, science, and history. I was able to learn a bit from books when I was little with Aki and a red headed girl in Ian's pack gave me some of her old workbooks but I was far from where someone my age should be. Most was basic things but just enough to get me through life normally.

He offered getting me a job at his company when I was ready but I wanted to find a job on my own. I eventually want to become independent from him but for now I still had a bit to learn.

"I'll be fine." I responded, rubbing my eyes.

"Are you sure? I could stay if you want."

"No, really. Besides, you haven't gone to work in a while, right? If you miss anymore you'll cause trouble." I said. Aki smiled.

"I never thought it would be you disciplining me at this point." I smiled back and ruffled his hair like he did mine.

"I have a lot of catching up to do. You've been carefree for too long." He laughed.

"Alright. Call me if you need anything. I'll try to be back by two but don't wait up for food. There's some stuff in the fridge but feel free to order something."

"I know, I know."

"Bye bud." He said before ruffling my hair and leaving.

I listened for his footsteps as he walked to the door, put on his coat, and left. I gave him a few minutes to head down before I jumped up and hurried to the computer. I opened up the e-mail Logan had sent me and copied down the address onto my phone. I then looked up a taxi service and called them to come pick me up.

I quickly threw on some clothes and tennis shoes. I went into the kitchen, wrote a note for Aki just in case, and ate a granola bar as I impatiently waited for the taxi. Once he arrived I had him drive me to the address.

When I arrived, I was a bit taken back. I expected for the restaurant to be like any other I saw in movies - the ones I've been watching recently with Aki - but this was a few levels higher. Outside, the trees were decorated with twinkling lights and a man in dress clothes stood at a booth for valet parking. I stepped by him awkwardly as I realized how under dressed I must look. I had a stripped blue and white sweater with a green jacket and jeans. I also had on a red beanie but quickly took it off as I went up to the door.

Inside was an elegant waiting area with white flowers on black tables contrasting the red walls. The white seats lining the walls looked to be almost velvety. No one was waiting as I assumed there wasn't as many people. I could hear the clinking of silverware on plates from the dinning room from people probably here for brunch.

The hostess up front looked at me, clearly judging my appearance but still asked -

"Can I help you?" I assumed she wanted me to know I wasn't going to be allowed to eat since she didn't ask if I wanted a table.

"U-um, I'm looking for Ethan." I asked, trying not to sound intimidated.

"Ah, let me see if he isn't busy." I gave a slight nod before she headed in the back. Something told me she meant I wasn't important enough to bother the owner by her tone but just waited patiently. I was kinda scared to sit down on the seats.

Soon enough I heard footsteps coming towards me.

First the hostess, with her slick, tight, ponytail, and then behind her was Ethan

He stopped as soon as he realized who I was.

"Ren?"

"Hi."
