Ren -

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of rain pelleting on the window. The events of the night before rushed back all at once.

I quickly glanced over to the side of the bed and saw Ethan was gone. His desk was still covered in papers and his laptop was left slightly opened. When I became more aware of myself, I realized I was wearing a hoodie. I had no idea when it got on me since the last thing I remember was Ethan giving me a t-shirt. I just assumed he had put it on while I was asleep.

I heard the faint sound of dishes clinking and running water. I crept out of bed and pressed my ear onto the door. I couldn't hear any voices, Noah and Logan's specifically. I finally decided to open the door and slowly walked to the kitchen.

Ethan stood behind the counter, placing bread into the toaster. His appearance seemed to have drastically shifted from yesterday. He wore a clean cut light blue dress shirt, compared to the t-shirt and sweater from before, and had his hair was styled. In comparison, I looked like I belonged on the sidewalk begging him for change.

He glanced up having had noticed me.

"You're up." I nodded awkwardly in response.

"How do you feel?" Admittedly, my back felt sore and possibly bruised in some areas from where my back hit the sliding on the wall and my knee stung slightly from being scraped.

"I'm alright."

"Are you hungry? I'm just making something quick before I leave for work." My heart sunk suddenly. He was leaving me alone? What if Noah comes back?

"Don't worry, Noah is staying with Logan at a friend's place. I already told him he isn't allowed back and even if he does, well, things won't end up pretty." I felt a sense of relief but also a tinge of guilt.

"Will you two be okay?"

"Yea, it's not anything permanent but what he did was ridiculous, even if it was a full moon. Either way I'll be back in about 3 hours so don't worry too much. Come over here and eat something." I did as told.

He wasn't lying about being something quick. Most of the things he had out looked to be things he just pulled out of the cupboard and fridge like cereal, milk, bowl of fruit (not cut in any way), and jars of jam. Still, it was more than I ever got with Ian so I couldn't complain.

I went for the box of honey nut cheerios but realized there were no bowls. I was about to turn to ask but before I could, Ethan came around behind me and wrapped his arm around mine, placing the bowl in front of me. As if on cue, my heart raced once again on contact. I'm not sure if it was just my imagination but I'm pretty sure he stayed for a few more seconds than necessary.

"Th-thank you"

"Hmh" Did he just laugh?

The toaster machine dinged.

"Want a piece?"

"Sure"

Once I had spread on jam and started eating, I noticed Ethan looking over every once in while. I tried not to notice, looking down at my plate quietly.

"Where do you work?" I asked trying to bring up small talk.

"My family owns a restaurant downtown. We are opening a new location so things are pretty hectic."

"I see." I had no idea what to say next so we just sat there eating in silence for a few minutes.

"You got some jam on your face." I looked up, about to wipe the cheek he referred to but before I could, Ethan reached over wiped the corner of my mouth with his thumb.
