Jimin and I got off the taxi and in front of us was a grand building, somewhat close to a skyscraper. Eunjung told us that a housekeeper would come to receive us and indeed, a man in uniform greeted us and told us to follow him. We walked into the elaborate hall of this luxurious apartment building. The entrance hall itself was akin to that of a five star hotel's.
Much like at the FIRE headquarter, there was a private lift right to the top of the building. It arrived straight at the door of Eunjung's penthouse. She was the one that greeted us at the door.
She nodded to the doorman, who bowed and left, and she smiled at us. "Yerin, Jimin, come on in."
We followed her deeper into the penthouse. It was definitely no less grand and magnificent than Yoongi's mansion, and this even had a modern touch to it. The decoration were sleek and clean, and every furniture seemed to be at the perfect place. The windows were oversized, and I could see that this penthouse was made of two connected floors.
Yoongi was sitting on the sofa backed against the window. He had on some casual clothing with a simple white shirt, top buttons undone. It was different from the formal suit that I was so used to seeing him in, it was a nice change. He was chatting to Seokjin who sat next to him.
"Yoongi-hyung," Jimin greeted him.
"Jimin, Yerin," Yoongi stopped conversing with Seokjin as he noticed our presence, "I'm glad you can make it."
Eunjung went and sat on the other side of Yoongi. She said, "Yes, we invited Jungkook too but he was too busy with work."
"That's a shame," I commented. It would have been nice to have Jungkook around since he was quite the conversation maker.
Eunjung nodded. Soon a maid came with glasses of champagne on top of a tray and we all got one. I had never drank champagne before as soju was the only alcohol I've ever tasted, so I was pleasantly surprised when the crisp flavour hit my tongue.
"Hyung," Jimin started, "What happened to you after you were attacked?"
The grey-haired man smiled, "Jimin you get straight to the point don't you? This was why I invited you two over. I thought you deserve an explanation."
That definitely piqued my interest as I had been so curious these past few days as to what happened to Yoongi at the time between the incident at his mansion and when he miraculously turned up to his own funeral.
The maid came back and informed us that dinner was ready. Seokjin and Eunjung helped Yoongi, whom I noticed winced a little when he stood up, as we walked around the penthouse. We arrived at an open terrace with a long running table.
"Wow," I said under my breath as I saw the combination of this part of the penthouse and the city skyline view. Candles were lit in the middle of the table and sets of the needed cutleries were already set out on each seats, awaiting us. Yoongi took a seat at the end of the table as Eunjung and Seokjin sat on either side, and Jimin and I sat opposite each other in the next two seats.
"We are having a Western style dinner today," Eunjung said. I figured as much as there were knifes and forks on the table.
Servants bought our meals out and I almost drooled when the juicy-looking steak was placed in front of me. I remembered this time how to use the knife and fork after Jimin told me last time we went on a date. The inside of the meat was still pink as I cut into it.
"This is Pure Angus beef from New Zealand," Eunjung said, "My favourite."
"Good choice," Yoongi said after swallowing a bite.
I was so indulged in the delicious meal I almost forgot what I was here for. Jimin reminded me when he said, "Hyung, what happened inside that mansion?"
"Eunjung and I escaped back into the mansion after you distracted them," Yoongi began, "We were being chased by three armed Bludhood men. We ran through the first floor and managed to kill one of them as we ran. Then..." He chuckled.
Eunjung shook her head, "Why, Yoongi, why did you do that?"
"Do what?" I asked curiously.
"I made Eunjung hide as I distracted them." Yoongi replied with a smile.
"You shouldn't have done that," Eunjung said, a hint of furrowed brows on her face as she was reminded of that day she thought she lost her love. "You know we could have both got out safely if we worked together."
"We could have, but we also could have died." Yoongi said and put down his knife. His hand slid across the table and linked with Eunjung's hand. "I couldn't risk you dying, love."
Eunjung eyes softened as she stared into Yoongi's, "You know you are so selfish sometimes. You really think I can bear to live with the thought of you dead, for the rest of my life?"
Yoongi smiled, "Yes, I am selfish like that."
I looked backed at Jimin with a smile. Yoongi and Eunjung were the cutest couple I've ever seen. It was almost as if they were those perfect couples straight out of the movies. Sometime I really wonder how this relationship started, whether it was as exciting as how Jimin and I met.
"Anyway," Yoongi picked back up the knife and continued cutting into his steak, "I was shot in the side and I ran out of the backdoor of the mansion. Then I managed to kill them both. Simple as that."
"Simple?" Seokjin spoke up, "When I came to you you already lost so much blood I wasn't sure if you even had the chance to survive!"
Yoongi chucked, "Yet somehow I could crawl to a house and got the person there to call you."
"What about the coffin in the funeral?" I asked, remembering the closed casket, "What was in it?"
"It was an empty casket," Eunjung answered, "What happened was we found a body burnt beyond recognition by the fire, lying on a pool of dried blood. That person must have fell into a puddle of Yoongi's blood. I think the forensic doctors mistakenly took a sample of that, and so we thought it was Yoongi's dead body."
